Chapter 29 - Episode 27: Travesty Black

"What do you want... Damon?"

Damon steps back from the painting. "Silva has got the information on The Union."

Sable's eyes widen in surprise. "That was fast."

Damon nods his head in agreement. "Indeed, seems that the young lady in our interrogation room was will to spill almost all the beans."

The two men headed into the council chambers. Two other men stood in the room waiting for them. It was Silva and Loid. The Arch Bishop spoke up. "Welcome. You four are the leaders of your respected groups. Sable, the grand inquisitor, leader of the entire organization. Silva, the highest ranking knight. Damon, the highest ranking board member. Lastly Loid, the leader of the black knights. We have called you here today to discuss the dire information we have received from the prisoner. Silva if you would."

Silva stepped up. The prisoner has informed us that The Union is a much bigger threat than we initially realized."

Loid scoffed. "Funny how my team has been working on uncovering this group for months. Constantly bringing in evidence and reports telling you they were bad news. Only to be shafted at every turn, but now we have one incident and now you're shitting your robes like you didn't even know about this group."

One Bishop cried out furiously. "Silence your mouth, black blood!!!"

Loid's eyes turned bright red as he looked at the Bishop. "Or what pig?"

Sweat fell down the bishop's forehead as he sat back down. Silva spoke up again to catch everyone's attention. "From the information we received, The Union is a large organization steming from anywhere to 5000 thousand strong."

The room fell quiet before the Arch Bishop spoke up. "Are they all miracle users?"

Silva shook his head. "No Arch Bishop."

One Bishop spoke up. "Of course they all aren't even our organization, only has 2000 miracle users."

Silva fell silent for a moment before speaking. "Our prisoner estimated that at least 200 of them are hired men."

The Arch Bishop squinted his eyes at Silva. "Meaning what?"

Silva spoke disheartened. "Meaning that out of 5000 members, only 200 of them are non miracle users."

The chamber erupted with chatter. A Bishop cried out. "That's impossible! What kind of man could gather such a force in secret???!"

Silva waits for the chamber to calm down. "The leader of this organization is a legend in the underworld, a monster so terrifying that the prisoner seemed to suffocate from even talking about him."

Damon slightly scoffed. Sable looked at Silva. "Who is he?"

Silva looked down slightly. "His name is Travis Black. Orphaned at the age of 3, he grew up alone on the streets. At the age of 4, he manifested his miracle and destroyed several local gangs in his area. At age 7 he had assembled a gang of miracle users and began a brutal campaign in New York city. For the longest time, he was a shadow with no name. Brutal and tactical, he quickly conquered all the gangs in the underworld. He's not just some gang leader, he sits on the throne as the only king in the underworld. This guy is the boogyman. Black isn't his given name, and neither is Travis. They are titles he was given. Black for how he stained the streets black with blood during his conquest, and Travis is a shortened version of what they called him."

Sable, eyes wide, asked. "What do they call him?"

Silva looks up at the Bishops. "They call him a travesty. A walking apocalypse. This is the man we are dealing with. A man probably on the level, if not higher than a knight. With a miracle that not many can withstand."

The Arch Bishop sweats slightly. "How do we deal with a man like that? A man who has an army behind him."

Sable speaks out. "Not only that. There is also the attack on the exam. The half-breed."

Loid looks toward Sable. "Not a half-breed, more like an altered being."

The Arch Bishop look down at Loid. "What do you mean by that?"

Loid sighed as he put his hands into his pockets. "Every time we raided one of their ops, we always found prisoners. All saying that they had volunteered for some experiment and then the next day were snatched in the night. On some documents we found, we kept finding references to a project 6:4. We thought nothing of it, not until that artificial daemon appeared."

The chamber erupted. The Arch Bishop raised his hand to quiet the crowd. "6:4 that's a verse referencing the nephilim."

Loid nods his head. "Yes, it appears that the Union has found a way to infuse humans with daemon DNA."

The chamber falls silent as tension fills the air. The Arch Bishop nervously asked. "Whats the estimated amount of people The Union has kidnapped?"

Loid falls silent as he reaches to grab the back of his neck. "Estimated from anywhere to 700 people."

The tension is now thick. Sweat runs down Sable's head. "So while we struggle to fill our ranks, an enemy has been rising beneath our nose."

The Arch Bishop grits his teeth. "A war between thousands of miracle users? That very well might lead to the end of earth as we know it."

Silva chimes in once again. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news. However, the evidence we have collected seems to suggest we have a bigger issue."

Sable looks at Silva. "What could be worse than all of that."

Silva turns to the Bishops with worry on his face. "The prisoner also reported that above Travis is another organization, that even travis seemed to fear. A group referred to only as The Architechs"

The Arch Bishop's face fell ill. "What do we know about them?"

Silva shakes his head. "We know absolutely nothing about them."

Damon lets a slight smirk form on his face before composing himself under his breath he says only two words.

"That's unfortunate."
