Chapter 11 - Episode 10: Roadhouse Blues

At the Union lab.

Grahm stands stunned, looking at the screen displaying the fight. "It manifested a miracle?"

Dr. Yang takes off his glasses, and with a small smile of satisfaction he looks at the ceiling. "We've done it. We have created a new breed of human. The Hybrids will lead us to the holy grail."

Grahm looks at Dr. Yang, surprised as he thinks. 'Thats right now that the Hybrids are complete, we can finally accomplish Lord Black's dream.' Grahm loosens his tie as he walks to the elevator. "I have to inform Lord Black right away."

Dr. Yang puts his glasses back on. "Poor Jack, she'll probably not be around to see the change of this world."

At the trail in front of the small town.

Jack slicks her hair back and pulls a small pick out of her back pocket. "So, mister Knight, are you ready for the show of your life?"

Silva readies his sword, ready to slay his enemy. "I'm sorry but, I must kill you before you can harm the applicants."

Jack scoffs. "The "applicants" are already in danger, Knight."

Just as those words had left Jack's mouth. The sound of a crash and a giant cloud of smoke can be seen from the small town. It stunned Silva, who could sense something he's never felt before. The body of a daemon with the soul of a human. "Miss...."

Jack responds. "I'm Jacky, but you can call me Jack."

Silva relaxes his stance. "I see miss Jack. Are you with an organization know as the Union?"

Jack slams on her guitar. The blue energy that was swirling around her became giant blue musical notes. "Since you're about to die, I guess it won't hurt to tell you. Yes, Knight I am."

Jack plays her guitar, sending the musical notes flying at Silva. Silva dodges them with ease. However, the notes that flew past him seemed to turn around, flying back toward Silva. Silva decides if he can't dodge them, then destroy them. The second his blade hits one of the notes, it explodes, sending him flying. Silva catches himself but blood runs down his face. "I see you're a mid-range specialist."

Jack can't hear Silva as she continues playing her guitar. She plays with so much passion that sparks start flying off the guitar strings, creating more giant blue notes. With determination, Silva holds up his sword. "I see you're lost in the music."

Silva runs toward Jack. Jack slams the guitar and all of her notes fly toward Silva. Several notes fly toward him, leaving him no room to dodge. Silva slashes the ground, causing stones to fly up. Silva flips his katana to the dull side and smacks the stones at the notes, causing them to explode. He runs through the flames and smoke rushing toward Jack to feel even more notes are being created.

Silva's vision works like a sonar that bats use. Instead of using clicks to measure the sound waves, he uses the sounds of life. Everything makes a sound, even the smallest molecule makes sounds as it moves far away from the human eye. After years of honing his hearing, he could hear everything. Along with his above average ability to sense life around him, he could achieve a superhuman ability.

Through this ability, he could see something that stunned him. Tears running down Jack's face. Being stunned for a minuscule of a second left him unable to devise a plan for Jack's attack. The several notes Jack had created smacked into Silva, creating a giant explosion. Jack continues to play, paying no attention to the fight.

Silva slowly walks out of the smoke created by the explosion. It blew his shirt off, revealing his chiseled body that was covered in blood. He looks at his left arm as he noticed it was dislocated. He grabs his shoulder and, with a quick snap, he pops it back in place as he thinks. 'She's crying and the way she's playing is with pure passion. Now that I stop and listen, the music she's playing is bitter sweet. I can feel it in her notes. Emotions that want to explode and take the entire world with them.'

Silva takes out his hair tie, letting his hair fall to his shoulders. "Miss Jack, keep playing your heart out. I'll be your punching back until the song is over."

Silva takes a deep breath as more notes fly his way. "Unleash my wrath. ASURA!"

In a flash of white energy, all the notes explode. The energy dissipated to reveal Silva's now glowing, white hair, and his gold lotus flower shaped eyes. Four white arms behind him. Jack keeps playing, not noticing anything that's happened. Silva smiles. "Just as I thought. When I release this power, the pressure causes people to panic or pass out. I have even accidentally put my mom in the hospital by giving her a heart attack. Not you though Jack, you are so obsessed with your music you can't even feel anything but your song. Now play to your heart's content. I'll listen to your song from start to finish!"

Jack plays and her hardest as she remembers that fateful day.

'I was just turning 16 when I fell in love with music. I saw a band playing my now favorite song. The song's name was RoadHouse Blues. I don't know why, but that song spoke to me. All of my dumb everyday worries fade to notes of the song. I spent that summer working everyday so I could buy my first guitar. I practiced every day and got pretty damn fantastic.'

'Eventually I joined a band, and we were on our way to being stars. The lead singer was really intense and a perfectionist, so we didn't get along. I played from heart and sometimes that led me to go off script, but I've always been like that with everything. If I feel something, I just do it.'

'After one show we did, the lead singer went off on me, the band jump to my defense saying me going off script made the show better. The lead singer stormed off. I thought little of it, so I went on like it didn't matter. Little did I know he followed me home with a knife.'

'He attacked me, intending to kill. The only thing that saved me was my guitar he stab it instead of me. I Ioved that guitar, and at that moment I wished he had killed me. My whole life was that guitar and seeing it destroyed spurred something in me and I manifest miracle, and killed him.'

'The courts ruled it self-defense, but my band kicked me out. I tried joining more bands, but none of them wanted to be in a band with a killer. Same thing with shows no place wanted to host a killer. Killer, killer, killer, that's all I was now. Then I met him, Lord Black.'

'He wanted a killer in his "band" and the Union became my home. However, this job isn't for me. I never wanted to be a killer in the first place. I didn't want my music to hurt people. When I heard the song that changed my life, I wanted my music to make people feel the same way. Now my music seems to hate me for corrupting it because now I can't play one damn song without remembering these stupid memories.'

Jack finished her song. She never looks at the dirty work her music leaves behind, but this time she looked. Her heart dropped as she saw Silva covered in blood sword sheathed. "Why didn't you fight back, idiot!?"

Silva's eyes now closed lets slip a smile and responds. "Because I was listing to your beautiful music and didn't want to interrupt your song."

Jack's eyes widen as her power disappears. "You listened all the way through, even though you were in pain?"

Silva coughs up some blood. "Weren't you in pain too?"

Jack laughs in denial. "No, you idiot! I am a killer and I was playing to kill you!"

Silva falls to his knees. "You may say that, but your music gave your emotions away. They were telling me you were in pain. That you are not a killer but an artist passionate about playing her music."

Jack's wide eyes fill with tears. She couldn't respond. All she could think about was how she didn't want to kill anymore. Silva falls to his back. Jack surprised runs over to him. "Hey Knight, are you okay?"

Silva smiles. "See you aren't a bad person."

Jack realizes something. Her impulse that she listened to without fail was telling her she might fall in love with a man like this. "Hey Knight, don't die on me!"

Silva smiles softly. "I'll be fine. I can feel my life force and I won't die from something like this, oh and my name is Silva."

Jack sighs in relief before remembering her mission. "Silva, the applicants are fighting a monster right now. They need help!"

Silva smiles from ear to ear. "No, they have help."

Silva's statement takes Jack aback. "What do you mean?"

Silva points toward the small town. "There is an Inquisitor in that town, just as strong as a knight."

In the small town on top of a building.

A man sits and lights a cigarette as he watches the fight below. "Just a little more. Let's see how far these kids can go."

The man exhales a cloud of smoke. His blonde long hair in a high ponytail shined in the sun. The smoke hugged his scarred face. "After all, this is a way better test than some lame scavenger hunt."

The man's name...

The Mirage Inquisitor...

John Asher.
