The day of the Red Moon isn't like any typical day. In fact, it's more festive in the concubine area. Each residence has been occupied with busy maids scurrying around for the preparation.
They choose the right incense of the concubine's preference, adding candles or even music just to spark more of the romantic ambiance in their bedroom chambers.
Of course, they also prepare a slight feast and jugs of iced water if the concubines become famished or thirsty during the night.
As they only celebrate it every four years, most of the pavilions have already been renovated, pleasing to the eyes of the passerby. Some are more grandeur than the rest of the pavilions and others show a simplistic side.
It has become a tradition in the concubine area to make it as festive as possible. After all, this is the time when the king comes out and chooses the concubine of his liking.
Yet, rumors spread that he only goes to his favorites during the Red Moon.
