"Shh! Not so loud! You don't want our concubine to overhear it, do you?"
"But with her intimidating aura, I'm sure she will get her punishment if we don't warn her."
"B-But I'm scared of her more!"
But Maridawn doesn't need to hear any longer. She sneaks out from the statue and hastily walks without a single noise. She has to tiptoe away from the scene. If anything, she should have shown herself and demanded an explanation but the words coming from Dimitri yesterday were still fresh in her mind.
It will be off with my head, like the queen of heart did from Alice in Wonderland.
'Dimitri wasn't kidding when he said that!' A nauseating thought comes to Maridawn's mind as she walks hurriedly back to her bedroom.
As soon as she closes the door and then locks it as an old habit of hers, she leans against the wooden door as she slumps to the floor.
Is this the reason why Madame Ping insisted on making her virginity a hoax? So it won't anger the king after finding out that she isn't as pure as any omegas here?
Then what about the omegas here? Are they trained to please the king? Of course, they're his concubines!
Maridawn shouldn't care about it, after all, omegas are nothing but the king's playthings and nothing more.
But her gut feeling is telling her that she should never come across the king even if her life depends on it.
Her prideful attitude might be the end of her life if, by chance, she will meet the king.
Her eyes shut tight, and her legs curl up in a fetal position as her head buries on her lap.
'Just a few days and the results will show up. If they don't let me leave unharmed, it's best to prepare a wolf's oath that I won't tell a soul of what's happening within the palace.'
Or better yet…
Try to lay low and not cause any problems for the people here.
Yes, she should do that.

You can say that Dimitri is surprised. Maridawn seems rather behaved these days that even Madame Ping wonders what pushes her to be more "omega-ish".
She doesn't refute whenever they talk about her rank as an omega anymore, let alone when Madame Ping taught her how to serve tea to the Alpha king.
Silverfangs are a prideful bunch and for Maridawn to suddenly become obedient seems off for him. But then again, he barely even knows his own charge and perhaps she's trying to show her true colors now?
'No, that doesn't make any sense. She's always been a spitfire since the first time we've met.' Then Dimitri's mouth drops as he unconsciously raises his hand as his fingers cup his chin. "Don't tell me that Madame Ping put a spell on her to make her meek."
Sometimes he slips out his true thoughts whenever he's in his deep thoughts. Luckily, he's alone on the balcony and Maridawn is asleep in her bedroom, far from where he is.
"There's no way such magic exists even in my time, young master."
Of course, the only exception is Madame Ping who has a talent for catching him by surprise with her lack of presence luring him from behind.
He stiffens as his head slowly peaks from his behind. "G-Good day, Madame Ping. How long have you been there?"
She sighs as she enters the room. "Long enough to see your face comically change every second, young master. You have the habit of being transparent whenever you think you're alone."
He has no way to refute that.
"I do hope you remember my warning, young master," Madame Ping says, eyeing him carefully.
He nods. "And that's exactly what I'm doing." He sighs. "I started to question myself if I can do this, Madame Ping."
"Why are you asking that now, young master? After all, you worked hard to reach this far. Not to mention that you are still twenty, young age of doubt."
Yes, he's doubting all right. It should be good that Maridawn has been well-behaved but something tells him that something triggered her to act this way.
"Well, personally, I'd like her behavior this way. I don't need to hit her on the stick if she starts to act rebellious."
He frowns. "I advise not to hurt her as she's precious to the king."
She crosses her arms as she glares at him. "As the queen's former head maid, I have every right to punish a disobedient concubine."
Dimitri hears rumors that Orga was all bruised and beaten up in his first few months in the palace. That probably explains why.
"There's a reason why I'm here, young master," Madame Ping says as she pulls out an envelope from her pocket and hands it over to him.
A plain formal envelope with printed writing of the addressee is placed at the top left and his eyebrows curve up into a mild surprise.
"The results are here. It's earlier than I expected."
"It's best to open it first. Her doctor also sent a personal message that he doesn't want to associate with Miss Maridawn Silverfang and would request to stop sending letters to his clinic."
Curiosity can kill and for Dimitri, it's one way to avoid any anxiety to his omega concubine.
He tears the edge of the envelope. They both exchange glances and nod in a synchronized manner.
"You sure it's best to read it first, young master?"
"I make sure to check this before giving this to Miss Silverfang," he says as he unfolds the perfectly neat letter and proceeds to read its content.
Dear Miss Maridawn Silverfang,
This letter is to communicate the results of recent testing performed by WolfSprint Laboratory. We apologize but your screening tests for your second gender or rank are still under the status: REGRESSIVE OMEGA. These test results demonstrate that your blood and your DNA clearly show your change of gender.
We would like to recommend you our prescription however seeing that you are now taken care of by the palace, their doctors will continue to serve and help your every need.
We greatly appreciate your support as we help all our patients through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Doctor Swan
Dimitri sighs as he folds and returns the letter back to its envelope.
Oh boy, he knew it would happen. Maridawn, after all, emitted pheromones at the alpha-dominated mall that time and caused a huge ruckus that almost had most of the dominant alphas killing the lesser alphas.
But he wonders if a stubborn woman such as Maridawn will accept her fate as an omega.
"Where are you going, young master?" Madame Ping asks as he walks out from the balcony.
"To see Miss Silverfang. I know she's tired but I need to talk to her."
"Are you going to tell her about the results?"
He shrugs. "Somebody has to tell her about it."
And that somebody is, of course, him, the alpha attendant who will serve her.
Oh boy.
