It was happening again. It hasn't happened for over two decades, but suddenly, she was locked up in the nightmare she never knew was still lingering around her.
Ambrosia kept tossing her head, sweating heavily. She wanted out of that nightmare but it came worst than it ever had before.
"No! No!" she screamed, trying so hard to wake up.
It was happening. She could see her family been slaughtered. Their blood splashing on her face.
Little Ambrosia could only watch. She couldn't do anything. They said she was born powerful and that made her special, but it was all a lie. Her mother, her father, her brothers and her sisters.
The enemies made her watch as they killed off her family. All the little girl did was watch silently. She wanted to scream but it was like a hook got stuck in her throat and no words were coming out of her mouth.
A black ditch appeared to little Ambrosia. She tried to run but her legs got stuck with a vine and it began to pull her into the dark hole.
She stretched forth her hand for help but no one came. It was drawing her into the endless pit. Tears flow down her eyes as she slowly gave in to helplessness, but then, she suddenly felt a warm arm wrapping around her and her head resting on someone, which gave her comfort.
Darren had a hard time sleeping. It had always being that way for him ever since the incident that happened when he was younger.
He stood by the window, staring at the city and wondering what his family were doing. Apparently, they couldn't remember him and he wasn't existing to them.
That was for the better.
Darren let out a heavy sigh and rested his palms on the window sill, but he quickly pulled his hand and looked behind him when he heard a loud scream.
"No! No!" He knew that voice belongs to Ambrosia, but who was she struggling with. The walls began to quake and the ground shook. The castle was at the verge of collapsing.
Darren held on to the window for support as he tried finding a way out. The windows, doors and trees were being pulled off by a strong wing. He felt a dark power too. It was so strong that even as human, he could feel it.
"Stop!!" He heard her screamed again and his heart stopped for a moment. Was she battling someone so strong to cause the earth to quake?
"Ambrosia." He called and struggled out of the room.
Getting to Ambrosia's room where the intensity of the dark power was much, he pushed the door opened but was thrown off to the wall with a loud thud.
He lifted his gaze to Ambrosia and his jaw dropped. She was struggling with someone or something. An intense struggle and there was tears flowing down her eyes.
"Ambrosia?' He called and managed to stand up again, but this time, he used the wall for support until he got to the bed.
"No! No!" She cried again.
"Wake up," he screamed at her and pushed her up to seat. "Listen to me, it is all a nightmare. It is not real!"
"Get away from me?" She screamed with her eyes closed.
Immediately does words left her mouth, the room shook greatly, almost throwing Darren away but he held strongly to her.
"Until you come out of this, I am not leaving."
Not knowing what to do to get her senses back, he did the only thing that came to his mind. He drew her closer to him and wrapped his arms around her cold body.
Ambrosia was engulfed with warmness. A feeling she had never felt before. Her little self in her dream suddenly got hope of being rescued. She felt safe and shut her eyes to get relaxed in his warm embrace.
"It is all a dream." His low whisper forced her eyes opened. She was awake and the storm seized immediately.
"Darren?" She called his name.
Darren exhaled in relief and pulled her away to face him. "Good you are back. You almost pushed down your castle."
"How....how did.....?" The questions running through her head got stuck in her throat. She became speechless and could only stare at him.
At that moment, all who Darren saw was a helpless young woman and not someone so cold who could kill without a second thought.
Ambrosia frowned and moved away. "Get out!"
Darren was taken aback by the sudden change of attitude. She was back to being her cold self again. The side of her he hated.
"Leave!" She commanded.
"So much for someone who came running to you." He answered and stood up. "I need to sleep anyway." He walked to the door and turned the door knob.
"Wait." She stopped him.
"I haven't left yet and you are calling me back?" He asked and faced her. "What can I do for you?"
"How did you do it?"
"Huh?"
"No one has ever being able to stop my nightmares. I end up destroying places unless I fight it off and wake up. How were you able to wake me up?"
"Well," he started, "I did what I could think off that moment. I kissed you and that's all it took." He lied.
Ambrosia leaned back and closed her eyes not saying anything else. He sighed and left the room.
"Liar." She muttered.
....
It was midnight but Isabel was far from been asleep. She sat on her bed with her eyes fixed on the wall while holding Darren's picture.
Her brother was still alive and she knew it. She could feel it, although, that forest witch was keeping him captive.
"You don't have to think much my dear, let me help you." A woman said, standing beside her.
Isabel jerked up in fright and faced the woman, breathing heavily.
"Don't worry, I mean no harm. I am a friend and not a foe."
"Who are you and what do you want? Did that witch send you here?"
The woman laughed and shook her head. "I am sure you are talking about Ambrosia. Don't worry, she is not a witch. Witches aren't bad but vampires are evil."
"You haven't answered my question. Who are you?"
"I am Keondra, the queen mother of the witches. You are a human with a pure blood and you are coming with me."
