Sensing that she was feeling a bit uncomfortable, Nick pressed his palm against Romi's mouth and pulled her back. Seriously, can his sister get any more annoying than this? Why was she like this? He couldn't help but wonder, thinking where exactly the gene pool of their family went wrong.
Curling his lips in an awkward smile, he looked at Vanessa. " I am really sorry about this, she has a real obsession with everything cool, you have no idea how many times I have caught her watching those action movies that are filled with nothing but blood and violence. She doesn't mean anything bad I promise."
"It's alright, she is just curious I understand that." Vanessa smiled back as she place her hand over her mouth and gave a tittering laugh, though she was just acting, it was enough to make goosebumps break all over her skin, seriously why did this guy have to like those foo foo girls and not some tomboyish bad b*tch? Was anything wrong with a girl who can break someone's bone as well as mend it?
She turned to look at Romi who was struggling against her brother's hold and patiently explained, "It's nothing to boast about, just some skills that I learned in my self-defence classes. And I also do weight lifting that's why I was able to pick you and your brother up, if you want to do that too, then you just need to join a gym and nothing else." Of course, the weight lifting she did was picking up men twice her size and throwing them on the floor but that wasn't something that she was going to tell Romi.
" ah dattws shoo kwool" mumbled Romi against Nick's hand and when she realised that her brother was still stopping her from talking, she tilted her head and gave him 'the look'. Nick let go of his sister, worried that she will really bite his hand, only then did Romi turn to Vanessa and repeated what she just said, " I meant to say that that's very cool of you sister!"
Vanessa didn't say anything, instead, she was thinking that maybe she should turn around and leave, the rhythm was broken and she didn't know how to ask for Nick's Kiki chat anymore. Even Derren was calling her to come, so that they can think of something else, after all with their identities they can't stay at a place for long, so, with a heavy heart she raised her hand. "Then I will see you some other day——"
" No, wait!" However, before she could turn around to leave, Nick stopped her suddenly. And when she looked at him, he blushed, looking hesitant as he stuttered, " I mean …you have helped me two times already and I haven't even thanked you properly? Why don't you let me invite you to lunch? At least let me show my gratitude to you?"
Vanessa blinked her eyes not believing that she was invited to lunch by the man she was intending to chase. She clenched and unclenched her fingers, as she nodded lightly. " Sure, if you don't mind me joining then I will come along with you two."
Nick heaved a sigh of relief as he held out his hand after a quick pondering. " I am Nick, by the way."
" Vanessa," taking his hand in hers, Vanessa introduced herself as well though she appeared prim and proper on the outside, she was completely freaking out inside her head.
' AHHH, she was finally holding to her man's hand! She has been dreaming about this day ever since she saw him! It's so good! Though her brother calls him a mouse, his hand is not as soft as she thought it was… surely it means that her man works out too!'
However, she got happy too soon. As Nick pulled his car at a small restaurant that served spicy croakers.
" This place is the best place to have spicy croakers in the town, I ate it once when I was in college and ever since I became a fan of this place." It was Nick's first time inviting a girl to lunch with him and thus, he took her to the place that he liked the most.
And though he was telling Vanessa about the place very excitedly and kept repeating just how delicious the spicy croakers here were, Vanessa couldn't help but feel that sky was falling on her shoulders. She was the princess of the Blake family, when has she ever visited a place like this? The worst hotel she visited in her life was the one that had three stars.
Below that she has never visited any other place, though she wasn't picky about many things, food was something that she was really picky about. Her food needed to be prepared by a chef and that too while taking proper measures of hygiene——— this place however had everything but hygiene.
The tables were covered in oil, small shop filled with people twice its size and congested eating space. This was everything that she hated!
The smile on her face was on the verge of slipping when Derren who was watching her from the outside shouted in her earpiece, " Remember Vanessa! Remember that love is war and this is war! Don't you dare back down now, go and get that mouse's Kiki chat or I will be too embarrassed on your part, we are the Blakes we cannot lose a battle that we started, got it?"
Thus, Vanessa quickly fastened her fake smile on her face and nodded along with Nick as he carefully introduced her to every dish. That's right this was a war, one that they were not allowed to lose!
Nick was paying attention to Vanessa all the time after all he knew that she was a rich miss but right now he had no money in his pockets. It was the last day of the month and he really couldn't bring her to a fancy restaurant with him, with an empty pocket, worried that she wasn't used to a place like this, he asked, " you can handle spicy things right?"
" Of course, I love spicy food," answered Vanessa with an enchanting smile.
Outside the shop——
" Does miss like spicy food?" asked Nolan in surprise, this was his first time hearing it.
Derren was still spying on his sister with his binoculars as he deadpanned. " She hates it."
