"Well then, I…" he said, his voice trailing off as his gaze met mine. A small smirk played on his lips as he completed his sentence, a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. "I will let your child go."
The words hung in the air, a mix of relief and apprehension washing over me. Xavier, in his characteristic urgency, insisted, "Do it now!" Max was granted permission to make a phone call, presumably to his people, urging them to release Andrew.
"Andrew will be here in ten minutes," Max announced, putting his phone away and fixing his gaze on Xavier. "Let me go now."
Xavier remained resolute, his voice firm, "You aren't going anywhere until I see Drew." He turned his attention to Martin. "But Martin, you can lower the gun now. The police are around the corner."
