"I am going to absorb this…" Ava said. The fact that Lucas gave her this mission must not be a coincidence! That man must have known about her and her parents!
"You cannot do that!" Ava's father said. "Please…. Just give it to me. I will handle it."
"Ava does not listen to him!" her mother said. "You cannot give him the stone."
"How unlucky…" Ava started absorbing it. Almost immediately, she felt a strange power enter her body. She felt like her world started spinning. She frowned and closed her eyes.
A strange light appeared around Ava's body.
"Ava, please… you cannot do that!" her mother's screams echoed inside her head. Yet, she was too occupied to even listen to her words. Her body floated and the tattoo on her back seemed to burn against her skin.
Right then and there, she knew. The stone wasn't meant to be hers.
