Ava gulped. She narrowed her eyes towards the Duke. "Why me?' she asked.
"Why not?"
"There is no reason for you to pick on someone like me… who had… no one else," Ava said. The official story that everyone will know is that she was a criminal. Someone who came here because she had no other choice.
Damon and the others silently spread this story to make it look like she was helpless.
"There is always a reason for everything. Don't you think so too?" he was smirking. He was clearly enjoying her discomfort at their close proximity. Ava gulped and turned her head away.
"I don't think you understand the current situation, Eve," Josef said. He didn't hide the mirth in his voice. Then he used his thumb and pointer to hold her chin, lifting it up so he could see her face. "I want you and I always get what I want."
