"From border crossers to inmates, huh." Ava uttered under her breath as she walked inside Jude's office. She eyed the large painting of Alaskan lake that took up most of the wall behind Jude's table. Alaska is still better than the hot Texas.
"Orders."
"From whom?"
"My father."
"If you think I would let you do that— "
"We have time for everything." Jude calmly said. "I just let you in on a normal conversation with someone that works with… us."
"And by us?"
"I meant, the people who know about the experiments."
Ava nodded. She sat on the couch and absentmindedly lifted her fingers to play with the strands of her long hair— then cursed. She no longer had long hair. Ivy had black hair with a sleek bob haircut. It was straight too.
The woman looked fabulous.
"Hey, do you like Ivy?" Ava suddenly asked. Her question however made Jude cough.
"What?"
"She looks pretty. Don't you like her?"
"She's a witch."
