"Why are you here?" Phil yelled when he spotted Ava.
In response, Ava flinched. She stopped walking and observed her brother from afar. Phil had a cast on his arm, blood still visible on his face. He was standing just outside of the operating room where Marylis was at.
"Get the hell away from here!" Phil said.
"Broody…"
"Marylis begged you, didn't she?" Phil approached her. Despite his clear difficulty in walking, he walked towards Ava, anger apparent on his face. "Marylis begged you! She asked you to let us stay! She must have seen it. She must have known that this would happen! But what the hell did you do, V?"
"Phil…"
"Don't you fucking tell me to calm down!"
Ava gulped. She knew this would happen. She knew her brother would lash out at her. He would hate her and maybe hate her forever.
But she needed to come here.
She needed to show herself.
She needed him to be angry at her.
