"I will take care of it." This was Matthew's answer when Ava told him about what Almeru said.
Ava lifted her head away from the steam of her hot coffee. She had been thinking of Almeru's words since the man left her house earlier.
Ava smiled at him.. "Of course."
"You don't believe me?"
"I do." Ava said. Her conversation with Almeru made her realize that she doesn't understand anything about Lycan politics. And to be honest, she didn't want to get involved in a mess like this.
A part of her felt like she needed to know something, that this was her right. Yet the other part was nagging her, telling her to stay in her lane.
She was not Matthew's lover.
She was his mate.
Something that fate decided.
They didn't exactly love each other.
Hell, they didn't even know if the attraction would soon dwindle down.
Once that happens, at least Ava would still have the dignity to leave.
