In the end, Jake was lucky enough to find his first armor when his mission would end in five minutes. It was even more than enough time to master the armor.
You obtained Chainmail
Durability: 15/15
Skill: Health + 03 (0%) master this item to obtain this bonus permanently.
Jake was surprised. It seemed that he could also obtain status points by mastering weapons, which was very good in the short term but not in the long run. Nevertheless, he reached his first goal.
Congratulations! You have become a Level one Squire!
Your strength and health will increase by two points, and your speed, endurance, mana, and stamina will increase by one point whenever you level up your class.
While there wasn't much time left, Jake decided to keep hunting slimes to master the chainmail as soon as possible. In the end, he succeeded in that and then received the notification of the system and a countdown of the teleportation that would bring him back to the town of the crystal server.
Congratulations! You have completed the mission and obtained 100 coins and ten points of fame. Please, select a new weapon of your choice.
The rewards seemed pretty meager, considering that Jake already had seven hundred coins. Maybe Lana was right, the difficulty of the mission was really high for newbies, and he only pulled that off thanks to Hyper Body. Nevertheless, once again, a sword, a bow, and a wand appeared in front of Jake, and when he selected a sword, another list appeared before him, showing a long sword, a spear, and a hammer. Each weapon combined with another set of defensive items probably would give him a class related to the weapon. While that seemed interesting, Jake once again chose a sword. Fighting with a longer one would be hard to get used to, but he still was looking forward to that.
You obtained Longsword
Durability: 18/18
Skill: Swordsmanship (0%) master this item to obtain this bonus permanently.
Swordsmanship Lv 01 - it passively increases the power of your sword attacks by one point per level.
"Hehe, now things are starting to look good," Jake smiled in satisfaction, but the surprises didn't end there.
You can now access the mission: Fire Slimes Hunt and Defeat the Fire Slime Boss.
Jake immediately went to check those, and while both of them had a duration of five hours, the rewards were very different. The first one will give fifty points of fame and five hundred coins if he slays five hundred fire slimes. The second would give him one hundred points in fame and a special class… no wonder veteran players were trying to clear the dungeon, but it seemed few people could pull that off.
"I guess I will have lunch before selecting another mission," Jake thought.
Jake logged off the game with no problem and then began to cook extra spicy chili while he was looking for information about those bug skills that he had seen. However, he didn't find anything even closely related to it. That was weird, given that the first person he played with also had one… he looked in forums, the website of the game, but he didn't find any mention of complaints about it. After looking for a while, he didn't even find a section where he could report bugs. The game developers sure were full of themselves since they were obviously thinking that their game would be free of bugs.
"Is there something affecting our body functions in that game? I feel a lot lighter in there," Jake rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
Once again, he found nothing and then sighed. The game was really weird in many aspects, but it still was a lot of fun. Hopefully, he won't get his account banned for having a bugged skill. That would be troublesome, given that he had quit his two jobs to play that game and make his living through it.
In any case, as soon as he finished his lunch, Jake decided to return to the game before he could get lazy due to his full stomach. In any case, now he had two swords, and while it seemed that he could keep using both of them, he wasn't anywhere skilled enough to become a dual wielder, nor did he want to. Jake's plan was to make a build where he would have a shield and a one-handed sword, but he wanted to have a great sword that one required his two hands to wield. Why? Because it looked pretty cool, of course.
Before selecting the next mission, Jake decided to look around town again for other shops. The coins are supposed to have some use aside from paying NPCs to repair equipment and brew potions. However, he didn't find any NPCs selling anything, but he found some players shouting near the crystal.
"Hey, Champ," A guy in golden yellow armor shouted when Jake showed up in that area. "Are you interested in buying some crazy high level gear?"
"No, but I want to sell this sword," Jake replied.
"You'd better throw that away since it can be easily found in the first missions," The golden armor guy said. "You are in luck today, I have this amazing armor that I just…"
"Do you have boots or gloves? I also want to buy a helmet," Jake interrupted him.
"I have, but… you probably can't pay for them," The golden armor guy said. "They will grant you the skills Concentration, Dash, and a bonus of + 04 in health."
"How much?" Jake asked.
"Hmm… let's see," The golden armor guy scratched his chin while looking at Jake from head to toe. "Two hundred coins for each."
"I will pay five hundred for all of them," Jake said.
The golden armor guy accepted the deal, something was off, and he could tell, though. It was obvious that Jake was a newbie and had just finished a single mission, and considering that he only had fifteen health points of health, he shouldn't have obtained so many coins while fighting fire slimes…
