"Where's the recorded suicide ribbons?" She said. "Need to get this out of here first." She shut the book and, with an exotic kind of energy that possessed her, dragged it out of the pillar, enveloping it in the Photo Shield. The book felt as heavy as a backpack loaded with books. She hoisted it and placed it on her head.
"I would be done in a short time," she said amidst her guilt and walked out.
She got to the house and saw Lastein with his eyes closed, still sitting beneath the tree, while Rangee sat hopelessly in front of the door. She knew she had done what Lastein resented, but she didn't care at that time. She got into her room through the back door to keep the book within her clothes in the wardrobe. She got outside and met Rangee still sitting there. She bent and touched his arm.
"What?" Rangee jumped up and looked around.
"It's me, Rangee -- Launa," she said.
"Launa?" He said. "Say the magic word now, please." He rubbed his palms together.
