Fern saw the glow dwindle into the distance as he approached the area where a thick, dark cloud hung above, pouring icy-cold rain, which he could even feel from where he was.
The rain caused a demarcation between the hamlet where he was and an empty area, which was only kept company by a few swerving trees and a cave which sat westward. He hugged himself tightly and went through the rain. He heard the splattering sounds of water while he moved, shivering like a cold-saturated bird.
He could see the entire environment obscured in haze, and he only got a hint of the trees and the cave by the left. When he couldn't keep up with the cold he ran to the cave.
The cave was a little warmer when he got there, although it was dark inside. He stood at the mouth of the cave, with his arms still around his body, shivering and rapidly grinding his teeth. Suddenly, a feminine voice spoke from behind.
"When the wind blows, you would leave where you stand."
