They read some interesting books and shared interesting facts about the descendants of the hiona wolf together -- the first person that was made a werewolf and the first set of hiona wolves that were killed.
They also read about how the werewolf syndrome spread round the globe. It was said that it first originated in America, after the first person, who was Andrew Friedman, tried it out. Marie gasped when she read that, and it made her urge to battle the problem much stronger. Some people that were bitten by the wolves migrated to other parts of the world too, and with time they bit other humans, spreading it around.
"But, in as much as the said subjected wolves are dangerous, I'd love to see one," Trevor said.
"They're not as bad as you think. The only problem is that you're not safe for long around them. My dad used to beat me brutally until he was taken away by the Werewolf Evacuation Force," Fern said.
"I still don't understand why he never bit you though," Trevor said.
"Werewolves aren't as blood thirsty as vampires. They bite only when they are threatened," Fern said.
"At times I wish I were one. I just admire their abilities. The genetically transformed ones though," Marie said.
Fern laughed. "You weren't born a werewolf, so you only become one by being bitten, which I wouldn't support."
"I still wonder what would happen if a subjected werewolf bites a genetically transformed one," Trevor said.
"No one knows what happens though. The subjected werewolves don't bite the genetically transformed ones. If that ever happens, who knows what comes out," Fern said.
"A hybrid werewolf?" Marie said.
"Maybe, but we wait to hear of that in future," Fern said.
In a few more minutes, they realized they had spent more than three hours in there when Expresso called Fern. They all dropped the books and went back to the lab to meet him.
They got into the lab and saw Expresso holding the tube of clear serum before his face, unlike the mixture that was black in color.
"You got it," Marie said, beaming at him.
Expresso nodded and inserted the tube in his backpack.
"This is the first step," he said to them.
"The second is storming the Antelope Canyon in Arizona," Marie said.
"Of course, and we have no time to waste on this," Six said.
"We should go now," Fern said, and they headed out of the place.
It was a wonderful ride back to their place. The feeling of success made them inwardly happy while they rode along the streets, headed to the house.
They all assembled in Fern's room. It was a tawdry room, decorated with pencil drawings and plasters of confetti. He had two wardrobes standing on opposite sides of the walls, and they were decorated as well. They all took seats, some seating on his high-rise bed.
He opened one of the wardrobes and pulled down a heavy bag, similar to the one they took with them from the past. Fern pulled the bag before them and zipped it open, revealing what the bag held. It contained equipments they would take to the Antelope Canyon to locate the hiona wolf.
Fern took out two sophisticated guns and handed them to Kahil and Six.
"Radio guns," Kahil said, rubbing it's sides and aiming at the opposite wall.
"Easy man," Trevor said.
"No need to fear, it's locked for now," Six said.
"What I like about the radio gun is it's lightness and effortless x-ray ejection," Kahil said.
"Really?" Trevor said.
"Yes, it shoots successive beams of x-rays, pew pew pew!" Six said.
"Woah, some battle masterpiece!" Trevor said.
"And here." Fern took out two blue spray cans and handed it to Expresso and Trevor. "The cloud spray. It conceals you in a thick cloud and blocks your enemy from seeing you."
They both took it and looked at it.
"Cool," Trevor said.
Lastly, fern took out a gun that was shaped like a pistol, but had a firm needle at it's nozzle. He clicked open a compartment beside the gun and looked into it. "This carries the tube containing the serum. We shoot the serum into the hiona wolf using this."
"And what should I go with?" Marie asked.
"You go with your eyes and senses of course," Expresso said. "You will lead us within the curves of the canyon, to where the wolf resides."
"I don't really know the innards and bowels of the canyon. It's been long I went there," Marie said.
"There must be landmarks to lead you anyway," Expresso said.
"Well, I could also help her out, I've been there before," Trevor said.
"Alright, now we should consider the part of navigation secured," Fern said. "Next is how to get to Arizona."
"And I don't think we'd be able to get there with an aircraft. The restriction of movements around Arizona would hamper us out there," Expresso said.
"So what do you think we could take to the place?" Marie said.
"Permit me to bring in someone you'd least expect -- Itsuki," Fern said.
"Itsuki? What brings Itsuki into the picture? I doubt his father owns an airport," Trevor said.
"Calm down bro. His father runs a lab at Kyoto City, and they've just completed their very first teleportation machine," Expresso said.
"Hurray, good news, but how sure are we of it's efficiency?" Trevor said.
"We could give it a try. Just consider this as the only way," Fern said.
"And I don't know why you're pressing so negatively on this. You don't want Itsuki around us because you've got feelings for Marie or something?" Six said.
"Not at all. We're friends, and it's in my interest to protect her from guys like Itsuki," Trevor said.
"Were you employed to do that?" Kahil asked.
"No." Trevor shrugged.
"Then Marie should have a breathing space around you," Kahil said.
Marie was silent, not able to say anything.
"If you've got feelings for your friend it's best you put it out. I'm a pretty love coach too, in case you're seeking for ways to put it out to her," Fern said and smiled.
"Alright, alright. Itsuki is coming," Trevor said. "Okay now?"
Marie still had her eyes on him, remaining silent.
