Goyle came back shortly with the box, and the lady opened it to reveal surgery equipment, bottles containing green powders, spatulas, and magnifying glasses. The box looked to Trevor like a murder compartment, and he began to jitter.
"You don't need to tremble on this. Hold still and everything would work just fine," the lady said. "Go call me Helen, Goyle."
The boy went out to go call his sister. Shortly both of them walked in.
The girl knelt down before Trevor and whispered to him. "Trust me, this won't hurt." She put her index finger in the tear made by the bullet on his trouser and tore the trouser open. Trevor gave a brief yell and she giggled. She tore it more widely and revealed the bloody gore there.
"Eww," Itsuki uttered.
"You want to throw up on this one too?" Six asked him.
The lady took out one of the bottles containing an ash powder and poured it on the wound. Trevor tightened his eyes thinking it'd hurt, but he was surprised it didn't.
"This is the anaesthetic powder. With it you wouldn't feel a thing," the girl said calmly.
"I'd be needing this. Where did you get it?" Expresso asked.
"The woods," Goyle answered.
"Never knew those trees were medicinal," Itsuki said.
"Not the trees. This powder is an ash from a particular tree that burns itself down every five years," Goyle said.
"Burns itself down. What sort of tree is that?" Launa asked.
"The Fuso tree. It lives up to five years, and when it's time is up it burns itself up, and from the ashes germinates another," Helen said.
"The tree is on the verge of extinction due to the rate at which people accelerate the burning process," the woman said as she poured some green powder in Trevor's wound to stop the bleeding. "The two now lives up to three years."
"How do they accelerate the burning process?" Expresso asked.
"There's an aura they prepare that modifies the genetic make up of the budding plants, and they grow and age quickly," the lady said, taking out a pair of forceps and glancing at Trevor to see his shaky face.
"An aura. You guys are familiar with the Founou plant too?" Launa asked.
"Yes, who told you about it?" Goyle asked.
"A sorceress named Jona," Launa said.
Everywhere fell silent. The lady had her forceps static inside Trevor's lap when she heard of Jona.
"You guys met with Jona?" The lady asked.
"Is there a problem?" Marie asked.
"Jona, it's been long we saw her. She used to live here though," The lady said and continued with what she was doing.
"But she was sent away," Goyle said.
"Why?" They all asked in unison.
"She was too much trouble. She defiled the laws that governed the usage of the auras," Goyle said.
"Yes. Everyone has to give account of the type of aura one has used for a week, what it was used for and all. But Jona's case was different. She used the auras for sinister purposes, and she gives no account of them," Helen explained.
"Not just that, she stole and hoarded a lot of Founou plants, using it for selfish reasons. The community got fed up and sent her away," Goyle added.
"And, knowing the kind of person she is, I'm very sure she might come around to cause a fight here, but we are ever ready for her," Helen said.
"You are a sorceresses too?" Trevor asked Helen.
She smiled. "We all are. Everyone in this community."
"This would irk someone beside me," Itsuki said and nudged Expresso.
"Well, I think I'm beginning to get comfortable with them," Expresso said.
"I think there's a stereotype surrounding sorcerery. It's not all that bad, though there are many out there doing the wrong thing," the lady said, pulling out the bullet from Trevor's lap, while he shut his eyes with his hands. "Just as you have good humans and evil humans."
"Well, we came here following Jona's directions. She said we'd find the hiona wolf at the Vernin falls," Marie said.
"The Vernin falls isn't where the hiona wolf should be. No one goes close to the Vernin falls," the lady said.
"Why is that so?" Expresso asked.
"There are multitudes of the Founou plant at the Vernin falls, and the Founou plant is one that releases a mix of harmful auras when in contact with water. It's not a place you should go," the lady said.
"Jona sent us all to die," Marie said in a fearful tone.
"Jona isn't someone a normal human should be around. She's not nice at all," Helen said.
"So we've been deceived all the while," Kahil said.
"If I get her I scratch her eyes out!" Itsuki said, scratching the air.
"And now I'm questioning the kind of aura she gave us," Launa said.
"What's the mix?" Goyle asked.
"Founou and the goo from the splinter worms," Launa said.
"The snitch aura," Helen and Goyle said with a dreadful tone.
