Chapter 24 - THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WOODS

Kahil and Six went back to the dark, where Trevor was whimpering in pains.

"We need to treat this before something serious happens," Launa said.

"I really don't know how we can find help around here, and it's night already," Six said.

"You remember the paths on the map leading out of the woods right?" Marie said.

"And how would it be possible to locate a way out?" Six said.

"Necessity would drive us," Expresso said and got up. "We need to take this guy out of here. We don't know what the bullets are made of."

"That's true though. And we need to move quickly," Kahil said.

"Here it is, we transform to werewolves, carry a human each, and race out of the woods to find a settlement," Six said.

"And we transform back before anyone sees us in that state," Itsuki said.

"That's it, now!" Six sounded, and they all transformed into werewolves.

Six took Launa on his shoulder, Kahil took Trevor, Expresso took Marie, and Itsuki took Fern. When they all had the humans, they dashed off into the cold darkness, with Glowie running beside them.

They zoomed across several trees standing like dark pillars, until they saw some lights glinting from afar, also hearing some music and chatters. They proceeded and came out of the woods to see a ceremony going on. They saw several colorful tents, people dancing and laughing and displaying fireworks.

They all stopped at the terminus of the woods and transformed into their main selves. They then walked to the ceremony with Kahil helping Trevor walk.

They got to the place and some of the people around turned to look at them. What scared them most was the wolf that was with them. They all gave way for them to pass, as they headed towards a circular tent with red stripes.

They got into the tent and saw some people seated around tables with wine glasses and bottles on the tables. They looked forward and saw a youg bartender there serving people drinks. Six went to the bartender and told him that he has a friend that was shot and he'd be needing an alcoholic drink stop the bleeding with.

"Why should you go through such fiery process while my mother takes care of that?" The bartender said.

"Oh, nice, nice. You've got a nice suggestion," Six said.

"But how was he shot?"

Six muted for a few seconds. "Uhm, look. His life first. We talk about it later."

"I'm not taking you nowhere until you tell me what I need to know. I don't even know you guys, you could have been in a robbery operation or something,"

"No no no, okay. Uhm. Do you know of a settlement at the other side of the woods?" Six asked.

"You talking of the Hunds clan?"

"Is that what they are called?" Six said.

"Arrg!" They heard Trevor yell.

"Please," Six rubbed his palms in a plea.

"Okay, I'll help," the young man said and came out of the bar to show them where his family was.

"Hey boy, you just gonna leave us unattended to?" One of the customers said.

"Oh, shut up. The debtors always make the loudest noise," he said and held Trevor's arm. "Don't know you guys, but I've got to help." He led them out of the tent.

They got to a white tent, which was three tents away, and in it, they saw a lady and a beautiful teenager making lemonades. The girl was already moving out with a tray of lemonades when they got in.

"Hey, can I take one?" The boy put his hand in the tray to take a cup, but the girl warned him sternly. She looked at Trevor with a questioning expression before she left.

"Hey mother, we got some people here. They were attacked by the Hunds clan," the boy said.

"Oh my." The lady left where she was and guided Trevor to one of the seats close to a table.

"How did this happen? How did they even get you guys?" She asked.

"We were on a journey to the Vernin falls," Six said.

The lady and the boy looked at each other with surprised eyes.

"The Vernin falls?" They both chorused.

"Why should a human go there?" The woman said.

"I know it's dangerous getting close to the hiona wolf, but we've got some aura protection," Itsuki said.

"The hiona wolf? That's not even the danger there," the lady said.

"And who told you the hiona wolf stays there?" The boy asked.

They all exchanged shameful glances.

"Erm, a sorcereress," Launa said.

"I must say the Hund clan even saved you," the lady said.

"How? From what?" Marie asked.

"At first, we need to take care of his wound. Goyle, go get me the box," the lady said, and the boy left, while Trevor kept groaning.
