"What are you going to do about the internship company? I have to leave India in a few days." 

In plain and simple English, Aunt Samara was asking me if I was coming with her back to New York. I didn't even have to think twice about my answer. 

"No, I'm not going with you to New York Aunt." I said staring at her and I saw the way her face fell. I almost took what I said back; almost. It wasn't fair to me though, I couldn't just up and leave India. I came back here to start afresh so going to New York just wouldn't do. 

"Why not? What are you going to be doing over here? Where would you live? You'd be all alone." Aunt Samara shouted and I frowned and willed myself to stay calm. 

I wanted to scream at her but I held my peace. I could understand why she was reacting like this; she was upset and concerned. I kept telling myself to be cool but the minute her next words slipped out, I couldn't just sit there.
