"I take you as my lawfully wedded husband. To love you forever, to hold and support you forever, and not even death can do us apart, cause I will gladly follow you to the afterlife." I chuckled as I placed the wedding ring on my husband's finger. It was the happiest day of my life.
He pulled me closer, wrapping his hands around my slender waist. I kept giggling reaching for his lips as his head was bent downwards-he buried his eyes in mine and I-I felt like the luckiest woman in the world.
"I love you, I will always love you." He whimpered in my ears and kisses me so softly.
Just then I heard the sound of someone striding closer to where I was. I listened closely to the sound and immediately I heard a voice whispering my name
"Eloise"
My eyes instantly became widely opened-I was dreaming. I took in a deep breath and turned my head sideways, only to find my husband and his mistress seated on the chair.
Every glance at them made my heart so bitter. I felt suffocated by their presence.
Hot tears prickled my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. My fears were laughing at me. Not only did I lose my husband to another woman but my father-the only family I have left is dead. I opened my lips and sobbed silently. The pain in my heart was becoming next to impossible to bear. I slowly turned to the left, making sure they have no idea I was awake but I failed.
My phone was underneath the pillow, as I turned to the left dragging the pillow along, my phone smashed on the ground and I quivered in shock.
"You are awake."
He stood on his feet smiling at me. His mistress hands wrapped around his arms. I rolled my eyes and picked up my phone.
"Shit" The screen broke.
"I know it might not be the time for this, but I can't wait any longer. I'm sorry for your loss, but you know, people alive should keep on living. Here are the divorce papers, Diane is pregnant."
He placed the divorce papers on my thighs. His words were as sharp as a dagger, they pierced deep into my heart. I took a deep breath trying to control the feeling of love, hate, and fear but I failed terribly.
"I told you, I won't divorce you," I yelled at him. I struggled to remove the IV tube in my wrist and placed my feet on the cold hospital floor.
"Can't you see, I don't love you anymore." He grabbed my hands.
"Peter let go, let go, Peter," I yelled and pushed him off.
I ran from the ward barefoot. The cold floor sends shivers through my body but all I cared about was getting far away from there as humanly possible.
I kept walking in circles around the hospital with no idea of where I was going. I looked disheveled. I couldn't curb all the pain, I was wailing bitterly and everyone I walked past kept pointing fingers at me.
"This is what he made me."
"Eloise!" Peter yelled my name from behind. He was coming at me with full force.
"I'm not divorcing you," I screamed at him. I've lost all shame left in me. I didn't care about the probing eyes, all I cared about was Peter, he is the only one I have left, if he leaves then I will be lonely. Maybe that's what I'm holding on to someone to call my own.
"Ding" I heard the elevator open from behind me. I rushed in right after the doctors went out and presses the rooftop button. Before Peter could catch up with me the elevator closed.
I bent on my knees sobbing bitterly. I can't believe my marriage has come to this. I used to be happy, I used to be envy of everyone.
"Ding" The elevator opened to the rooftop of the hospital. I walked out staring at the city. It was busy as always.
"Arrrghhh" I screamed patting my chest as I fell to my knees.
"How dare you, how dare you, Peter." I kept wailing bitterly.
Suddenly the elevator opened and Peter and his mistress stood behind me.
"You wrench." He walks closer to me in all his fury. I aloft on my feet and walk backward trying to get away from him.
"I'm going to make sure you sign the divorce papers today." Diane slapped me and pulled my hair.
"How dare you." I kept screaming at her, fighting with her to stop pulling my hair. She bent my head down still pulling my hair and pushing me backward. I punched her belly and spat on her.
"You slut."
"Diane." Peter placed her head on his thighs.
"How dare you Eloise, you are stupid." He stood on his feet, his hands raised about to hit me.
Every step he took towards me I took the same backward without looking behind until-
My left foot swept off the ground
"Arrrghhh" I screamed stretching my hands towards him. He did not attempt to help me but stood still looking at me. I tried to stand still but I failed. My right foot swept off the floor as well.
"Peter!" I screamed afraid of dying. But my husband stood there, he didn't move an inch.
"So this is what it is?" I closed my eyes as I was falling to the ground; My long brunette hair covered my face. The gust of the cold wind made goosebumps appear all over my body. Despite all that, all I saw was him, the way he stood there, watching me, waiting for me to fall, he must have wanted it.
*BASH* I fell on a car, from the twenty-fifth floor of the hospital. Blood was rushing from my head. I couldn't feel my muscles. My eyes fixed on the heavens but all in my head was the image of Peter, the way he stood still looking at me.
"So this is what dying feels like" My vision became blurry, I could still hear people screaming, and eventually, my eyes closed.
