Leonard picked up the phone call without thinking when he found that the person calling him was Celine, holding the smartphone close to his left ear. He looked at Fernando for a moment, who was already fast asleep on his lap (he had checked repeatedly, to make sure that Fernando was really asleep or still awake). Then smiled gently with his right hand not carrying the smartphone, rubbing the top of Fernando's head again.
"Hello?" Leonard changed his tone to half a whisper. Simply for the reason that he did not want Fernando to wake up from his sleep as a result of the tone of his voice.
His eyes were now looking at the ceiling of the living room where he and Fernando are currently, with silence blanketing the room. As a result, no matter how hard Leonard tried not to make a big sound so as not to provoke Fernando to wake up from his slumber, his voice would still sound clear and loud.
