Chapter 18 - Training day

Author's note: Dearest readers, I made a mistake in the previous chapters, there is no class"A" it just 8th grade. Thank you for your understanding .

Edge Hill Junior high wasn't the most populated school, it also wasn't the least.

Different children attends the school, every child had a secret. On the surface, they're just harmless kids but deep down in the hearts of these "harmless kids" was an ambition that made them do what they do. Like a drive that drives them towards their goals.

Noon.

It was time for lunch, every student from 7th to 9th grade lined up in the cafeteria to get their foods save for the privileged (or less privileged) ones that get their food from home, Creston being in the former group. He walked to an empty table, sat down and quietly placed his lunch on the table, his lunch consisted of spicy meat sauce, bread and sweet corn on the side and of course, orange juice to wash it down.

Creston was once a sanguine. A sanguine is a type of temperament, he or she is outgoing (an extrovert) and mostly friendly they're like"the life of the party". But ever since Creston found out that he's a demon, he is gradually losing his happy nature and slowly turning melancholic.

He sat down, ready to eat when Darbie suddenly sat across him which was very unusual; Darbie sees Creston as a rival. She would normally observe him from afar and stay as far from him as possible.

Creston gave her a questioning look but the expression in her face remained unchanged. Before Creston could ask her any questions, she picked up her sandwich and asked, "what do you think about the training tomorrow?"

"it's okay", Creston shrugged and Darbie took a bite out of her sandwich.

"What's wrong with you? I mean...are you okay? I'm sorry, the thing is, you weren't yourself today, especially in math class. You couldn't solve the equation, Creston you, you couldn't solve the equation. What are you thinking?"

Creston looked in her blue eyes, he could see concern with a hint of satisfaction. He wanted to look through her, he tried and he saw that she was happy... happy not because she solved the equation but something else. She was also sad, sad because no one cared about her achievements. Creston could see ambition she wanted to be noticed, she wanted people to care.

Creston saw all this in just a second then he finally answered, "I didn't sleep well last night and I was thinking about the training the time I was asked to solve the equation. I was just lost".

Darbie nodded.

"Hey, why do you suddenly care?" Creston asked.

Embarrassment flashed thru Darbie's eyes and Creston noticed.

"...well it's because you are my Rival, Creston if something happens to you, school will be boring for me"

Creston felt that Darbie was pretty bold to tell him to his face that he was her rival and she really knew how to conceal her shame but deep down she was as soft as a wet marshmallow, easily hurt and affected by mere words. But she pretends to be as tough as a wall nut on the outside.

"Wow, I feel so loved," Creston smirked.

Embarrassment flashed thru Darbie's eyes again any other girl would blush because Creston looked so damn cute when he smirked but Darbie just kept a straight face and said, "nonsense Creston, you are my Rival".

They finished eating and went to drop their dirty dishes in a sink.

Closing Time.

School closed by 2:30pm and everyone was going home. Some used their bicycles, some used their skateboards, scooters, some walked and others waited for the bus or their parents.

Creston was going to crash at Levi's till 4pm so he waited with Levi.

The next day. At the assembly.

Principal Stan's voice was heard

"okay kids, your training starts today. I know you all are kids, but you have to persevere for the sake of humanity. What I mean is that this training is not going to be like gym class, you guys may be unfamiliar with it but I advise you to persevere."

After the assembly everyone went back to their classes.

It was already 8:45 and the training begins at 9am. The students started to wonder how the their training would be. Some thought it would be fun and were excited about it, others thought it'll be terrible.

It was 9am
