"Hey, when you said you finally knew what you were gon a do to me, what did you mean by that?" Wenji questioned, slightly curious.
"Hm? Oh, that… Let's focus on the journey ahead and keep your eyes peeled…"
They were running on the ground, as opposed to at the top of trees, to lessen their chances of being ambushed.
Wenji looked at him curiously. 'For someone that had the time to loot a sabre, I doubt he would simply forget it....'
Wenji eventually gave up caring.
"From here we go left along with the mountain range and cross over the ridge, where we will able to get a visual on the school."
"Roger, that"
They never spoke much while they continued onward to the mountain ridge. Despite Wenji's previous attempt to start up a conversation, it was shot down.
He never worried since there was little he could do once he reached school.
Wenji lagged behind a little purposefully to observe him a little more. He was definitely attentive and kept his hand on the hilt of the sabre while he glanced to his left and right consistently.
'At least, he looks like he taking this seriously. He managed to beat Forsen in a single hit. I didn't see if he had any injuries, but to manage to beat him in a single move must mean his blessing is really handy.
He could have the Spirit of Rest, I heard that there have been more people that received that blessing. If that's the case, we might get away…'
He imagined this happening slightly more because he wasn't sure of how strong his motivations would be.
He shoved his hopes to the far depths of his mind and continued on.
They drew nearer closer to the ridge, Already they travelled a few miles without saying a word to each other They only communicated with gestures whenever small animals made noises.
Surprisingly to Wenji, Junya broke the silence.
"Hey, so you're telling me that they are chasing you down because of your research?"
Wenji slightly frowned, it was a statement he heard a lot. Usually, it was followed by ridiculing his work, which explained his facial expression.
"Maybe...."
"Does getting the chest size of all the women you meet matter?"
"I don't need to hear criticism from someone like you, just focus on finishing the trial".
The atmosphere became more awkward between the two for another dozen metres.
"Well, no wonder people think you are a creep. It just sounds like a shitty excuse to be a pervert."
There was another moment of silence, Wenji refused to answer him.
But it was only for some time. It was rare for someone to ask for his research, which never happened outside of someone telling him the impracticality of his thinking.
He sighed dejectedly after realizing Junya was instead curious about his research.
"It's too long of a story anyway."
"Well we got time, haven't we?" They passed around a dozen rivers while on their journey over the mountain range. This part of the trip was uneventful and the threat of being chased by Creig waned.
Wenji nodded and started explaining.
"I was around four years old…"
****
"Brahahah, Mama stop! I-I, I can't breathe!" Wenji's face was reddened by constant laughter. His mother lifted his shirt and blew raspberries on his stomach.
His mother, Elizabeth Blackwell was was a jovial figure, her smile radiated brilliantly as she giggled heartily with her son.
It was a year after the eve of chaos passed over, the Blackwell family which was prominent in the medicinal industry spanned the globe. Their reach and impact in their field were unmatched.
The eve of chaos heavily impacted the tangible assets, practically wiping all their hospitals and equipment available to them. However, since the family was always weary about the possible threat of nuclear warfare, they managed to erect multiple strongholds deep underground..
This didn't make them immune to the catastrophe that befell earth on that day. More tan half of their strongholds were wiped out in a single hour. This was true for most, however different for Elizabeth Blackwell.
Among the first to receive a blessing, Elizabeth Blackwell was one of the first to start using her blessing on the battlefield. Some would think she didn't have a bad bone in her body. Leaving her four-year-old son, she still dedicated herself to helping humanity even before fully realizing her blessing.
God of Healing
The fulcrum of power and the most sacred of blessings, among which she was the one of the first to receive and utilise.
Putting her amongst the Class of theocrats. The first people who were all given a god blessing during the Eve of Chaos.
With this power, anyone she came in contact with would experience a breath of fresh air and give people a second chance at life and fighting. While her enemies, never saw much of anything after confronting her.
It had already been a full year and the fissures in space had close up and she accepted her new life. She was someone that made do with any situation. Since she saw with her own eyes, the destruction of the Eve of Chaos and how close the world was to being wiped out. She cherished whatever litle portion of nations that she would be able to retain.
"Mom, are you going to work again all day? Dad said you should stop cause its dumb".
"Ahh, your father is just being a big baby. Your mom is just doing research to help people who lost a piece of themsleves in the war." Elizabeth laughed.
Wenji was immediately interested in what his mom was doing. He arelady saw her as the gretest role model in his life. Like a light shone down on him. Even better it was his mother and everyone looekd up to her aswell.
"Mom! Tell me what it is I wanna Know!!!" Wenji jumped off the bed into her arms and snuggled tightly to her chest. "Please!!! Take me with you!"
Elisabeth quickly refused, but faced with Wenji innssitence she reluictantly startde to rething her position. Her face began to blush the more she thought about her line of work, which made her whole face beet red.
"Mom, why is your face burning up, are you sick?"
Elizabeth shook her head climsily whhile dispelling though of her sresearch.
"Mom, don't try to ignore, me please! I wanna see your reasearch." Wenji pulled on her collar eagerly, shaking her headwhile he pleaded.
"Stop Wenjji, let me think…." She lifted him in the air and thought to herself, his slighly reddened cheeks. Wenji tired to reach her collars, but he was too far.
He looked at his mother thinking, eagerly hoping she might say yes. Her long green hair resembled the lush trees that made up the regrowing landscapes. Her eyes sparkeled like emeralds inside Wenjis and carreid a notable beauty spot in her cheek.
He wasn't very tall, only standing at 4'6 which was barely average.
She sighed, 'What will my son think of me if he sees my research. No… maybe I can clean out some of my reference material before I carry him there. If he saw the things I studied, what would he think of me!'
She looked at the innocent look in her sons eyes, she bit her lip. "Fine, but you have to do whatever I say and promise me you won't touch a thing. It's delicate stuff and there are alot of records that I have written there aswell as research experiments."
"I promise!"
