The hybrid stood still, overlooking the gazes that followed him since he stepped inside the auditorium. Revampirina was just a surface and a bait to any strong one. Vampires didn't care if the creature was human, elf, demon or anything else. They were bored from having a long life and bored from the same cycles that repeated endlessly, especially the Empress of Zaskuaria, the vampire Empire. Vampires usually called their kingdom an Empire believing predators never claimed lands. They only took a small one where to live while the rest was claimed to them by itself.
He took a deep breath and shifted his gaze to the screens that floated in the air with magic. There was the mage he hired and the apprentice mage he had his eyes on him. What were they doing as part of the death race? Were they stupid or could it be they were caught by other vampires?
Being caught wasn't a possibility for her but it was a possibility for the other one. He was a weak human so being caught was easy. However, he didn't have a number, which meant he wasn't officially registered as a participant while Aurora was. She had a number on her back. Aurora turned around and with her back facing the part of the auditorium the hybrid was in, he noticed she had a number zero.
"But there is no number zero between the prisoners… Who did such thing?"
He reached his seat and installed himself comfortably. His hand grabbed a pair of goggles with magical properties. Vampires had good eyes but a hybrid wasn't like them.
"It seems today's race is interesting. What did I miss?"
"You missed a lot of fun. I have never thought that the promoter would come up with such an interesting idea. Having two participants at one solo race, it's genuine. However, what made it more entertaining is that white-haired woman. She has been creating trouble since the start of the race. You haven't seen how she pushed him all the way to the half of it. I wonder how much she will keep doing that; she is making the white day the best one."
The whole audience started laughing when Aurora jumped asking a hug from Stephan. The hybrid was surprised by how the mage showed herself to be weak and meddled with everything the boy was doing. She always found a way to create a scenario where he will be pushed to reach his limit. He also noticed how the race had something different about it; it was harder and more difficult than the usual ones. Was it because of her? Did she have an insider who let her in? What was her goal?
The underground games and prison they built was a secret that no other kingdom was able to discover. How did she do it? How was she able to discover the secret and infiltrate it?
The hybrid closed his eyes then opened them widely, imagining how she did it. He was someone who got to the position of the acting Overseer with his abilities. He would be able to point out how she did it. It would be an easy thing for him. He just had to focus.
The mage must have someone who let her in; it was impossible to get into the game unless you were a verified prisoner. The verification went through many steps that made it impossible for anyone to not be discovered.
'What did she do?'
There was no spy around him. Could it be one of the Lords did it? But the Lords didn't like humans at all. In fact, no vampire would like other races, they were selfish and only liked themselves. They always made sure to survive and sacrifice others. If a vampire was in a position where he would be forced to choose between himself and another person, he would choose himself. It was a certainty.
Could it be she had something against one of the Lords? It would be impossible; if there was a potential weakness, a vampire would get rid of it. Then where did everything go wrong?
A hand on his shoulder made him jump pulling him from his trance. The hybrid glanced at the hooded new audience member. He had his face under the darkness of his hood. "I see that you are trying your best to guess where you went wrong, don't give it so much thought? She always comes up with the strangest ideas."
The stranger sat next to him, his eyes focusing on the white-haired woman. "Your Majesty, what would you do in a place like this? I will make sure…"
"Don't bother with it! I am here to watch the show; it has been such a long time since I saw something like this."
"I will investigate…"
"I said to not bother with it. You cannot understand how she functions."
The hybrid closed his mouth. He glanced occasionally at the man. There was a hint of anger in his eyes. The golden color in his eyes turned into a bright red and his murderous aura started getting out of his control. The hybrid shrank on his seat, feeling threatened.
"May I cross the boundaries and ask who she is?"
The man's eyeballs moved to where the hybrid was sitting without moving the head. He seemed to consider his options. "I am the one who let her in."
"But your highness, if she is a potential threat?"
"If she was a weakness then my mother would have gotten to her a long time ago. If you underestimate her, you die. So don't bother about it! Just focus on attracting more rebellious minds and if someone interesting landed on Revampirina, make sure to let me know about it."
Aurora whose hand was slapped at the moment, turned her eyes to where the man in the hood was sitting. Despite the fact that there was a barrier making it impossible for the participants to see the audience, she was able to point out where he was sitting exactly.
"Tell me, who's that boy?"
"It seems he is her disciple. That's how I heard her calling him, dear disciple."
"I wonder what she is playing at, taking a disciple out of nowhere."
