Chapter 25 - Exodus Magic Academy (Part 5)

Exodus Magic Academy (Part 5)

It was Monday yet again.

[7:42AM]

This time Clerifa who was usually my walking buddy to class wasn't feeling well and stayed in. The other two were still knocked out.

When I first thought of Master as one of classmates, I really thought she was going to be a model but… reality had always produced twisting views of nature.

In the first few days, I had to go down the second floor of the dormitory as I was from the third floor with Clerifa, just to wake up and basically drag Master to shower and go to class.

I even thought that she'll just get used to it sooner or later but she had corrected me after just a week, saying that she'll just run to class every day.

It worked in her favor since she was physically active too. Vyurian was the same as well, sometimes coming into class together with Era or completely alone. Just in time before the professor reaches the floor.

As I headed out to class, walking along various other students, I was able to take in the view far better than I did the other times I was with someone else.

It was true that the pavement was centered by a path of trees and a railing in between. There was also a metallic door to get through the railing, probably for picnic purposes.

Or sightseeing.

"Good morning, student Tabitha." I heard the raspy cheerful voice of Headmaster Angelyka Sun which we call Instructor Lyka.

"Good morning, professor." I smiled. It was a beautiful day so I should spread the freshness of a new day.

"Good morning!" Headmaster Pedrio Ruster Forest, that preferred to be called as Instructor Pedrio, smiled from beside her and I gestured back, beaming.

Followed by the two headmasters from behind was the still messy looking black head of Headmaster Weiss Frauleen System that was lowered.

He looked out of it.

"Oh! Don't mind him, we were out drinking last night! Hahahaha!" Instructor Lyka casually exclaimed.

"Ah okay…" Is this something a teacher can nonchalantly tell a student?

I continued to go my own way but it seems that the headmasters were going on the same direction as I was.

After a few minutes of walking in silence, I turned to a separate end and entered the forest area.

As I thought, the headmasters were following me.

I wanted to smack myself due to mild irritation building up.

My body finally faced them and they disassembled in various areas of the forest, looking like their objective wasn't anything related to me.

They look awkward too.

'If you want me to fall for your coy plot then stop side glancing at me Instructor Lyka!'

'And Instructor Pedrio! Don't kneel and suddenly pray right behind me! What's wrong with you?'

The only one who looked naturally matching was the puking Instructor Weiss at the back but it still didn't look right. Especially knowing full well that hangover was the cause of it.

I couldn't help but sigh and smile in a very obvious fake version. "Does the headmasters have anything to ask of me?"

It was Instructor Pedrio who first spoke, coughing slightly "Ahem. Well not really?"

"Really? You don't have any business with me?" My smile brightened up. His smile wavered and lowered his head, still kneeling and fiddling with his glasses.

'As if I'd believe you lot!'

"I…" Instructor Lyka started to talk, moving closer slowly "I.. was going to ask you which brand of rosemary perfume you were using." And smiled.

Does she really think I'd buy her story?

"I'm using the perfume that my cousin Rakhiel Obiel had gifted me before. I'm not sure where he got it so if you have questions then please ask him." My face continued to show a pleased expression.

"Ah. I see." The female instructor backed down but didn't go away.

It was time for the reliable-looking Instructor Weiss to step up.

Just as I thought he walked up to us, looking like he washed his face with cold water and his hair was properly tied low. He looked far from the earlier weakened state of him.

"Yes, Instructor Weiss?" I leered at him, expecting a proper and convincing story.

But reality was truly different from expectations.

With a straight and serious face Instructor Weiss moved his mouth, "We're here for a picnic."

It seemed that even the whole forest and the small critters had cringed away from the pitiful excuse. The forest came to a standstill including the two headmasters.

"Sir. Classes are about to start. What are you talking about?" Calm down, Tabitha. The gods are testing your patience right now.

"We don't have scheduled classes this morning."

"That's ridiculous! You're literally my professor this morning until lunch!" The thin string of patience had snapped and my voice rang out the forest.

My mind was blank at this point.

"And you, professor Pedrio! My cousin Lord Obiel and Lady Guisen informed me that you're their instructor this morning too!" I huffed.

"Wha-what about me?" Instructor Lyka chuckled nervously.

I chuckled with her at the moment. "Instructor. Didn't you arrange a field trip for this afternoon? I believe you have duties to oversee the preparation with the students of your class, no?" Her smile faltered.

The three headmasters lowered their heads, the green-haired man finally standing from the kneeling position.

"Ah!" I regained my sanity that moment.

"Ah– I apologize!" I lowered my whole upper body at them. Damn it! I literally lost my shit for a minute there.

I doubt I'll be expelled but my school life might get harder or something.

Fortunately the headmasters only burst out laughing, even the calm Instructor Weiss, and saying that it was fine.

"Wow! It's been forever since we last got scolded pretty well!" Instructor Pedrio exclaimed and my head tilted in question at his claim.

"Just don't mind those words" Instructor Weiss smiled brightly, reassuring me on the spot.

Damn. Now that I think about it, these people were also otherworldly good-looking people despite the few signs of old age.

It always feel like I'm tasting some eye candies right now. What a sweet view of charming people all around.

I'm not confident in creating a competition on looks from people in this timeline versus mine, at all.

"Actually we just wanted to get to know you, Little Tabitha." Instructor Pedrio said and they smiled gently at me.

I ended up being the receiving end of embarrassment. A finger instantly reached out for my cheek and scratched. "I don't understand why but okay?"

Maybe Duchess Patricia Obiel told them to do so.

It was the same as before. She probably wanted to keep an eye on me and show me how different I am with people through getting the professors consent and opinion.

This was only a speculation though.

"Hohoho! We understand! We couldn't help ourselves but get close, it's not the proper time for this too." Instructor Lyka added.

"Well I'll get going first." Instructor Weiss was the first to back off from the situation, followed by Instructor Pedrio and lastly was Instructor Lyka.

From the moment I've met them until now, there was no hostility. Instead I was given a warm welcome and even more so than the others.

It was weird and I didn't like the fact that I can't trust anything here fully but they didn't seem to be bad people.

What's worse is that I can see them as childish because of the way they act towards me. They seem good, I wanted to defend them even just a little.

I stayed for a few more minutes gathering my thoughts before heading back on the road.

"Tabitha?" It was just in time to see Era and Yuri look at me while running and stopping altogether.

Huh? Era and Yuri?

[8:39AM]

"Shit! We're almost late?!" I couldn't help but curse out loud. Yuri laughed at me while Era gave me a questioning look while smiling at something. We didn't even have the time to converse as we ran trying not to be late for our 9AM class.

"Oh? You're late too, Tabitha?" A student from an upper level yelled and his girlfriend next to him, chuckled at us while we raced down the hallways.

"That Obiel kid finally shows some flaw…" I heard one gossip as I pass them by.

There wouldn't be any flaw on me as a noble here. I know etiquette and manners, I 'm outgoing and polite. There won't be anything stopping me from a peaceful school life.

I'm actually a noble too. These kids…

[New Message: Xavi]

[Lady Tabitha, new information has arrived at the guild. It's very important, would you like me to bring it to you?]

Xavi was the informant I personally connected with among the information guild. He had quick feet and politely delivers information personally when I need him to.

[Compose:]

[Yeah. If you can get into the school then leave it by my dorm room window. If you can't then just contact me to meet you by the gate.]

[Sent to: Xavi]

After finishing all of that, my vision focused on the path.

Some upper level students who saw us were either shocked that I wasn't early and the others were teasing us.

It was a peaceful atmosphere.

If I had attended an institution normally as a child then I might have had friends while growing up, instead of being close to knights or mages from the war who only talk about morbid things.

Of course, there were fun times. Especially when a bard passes by the barren land swept away by the war and they stay partying with us. They didn't let me stay too late though.

I couldn't help but taste the bitterness welling from my mouth.

The familiar blue cloak of Instructor Weiss came into view and we almost yelled out when he was almost near the classroom door.

[Gravity Manipulation]

I instinctively casted a spell on my feet as well as Yuri's and Era's. At first they were shocked but they adjusted pretty well.

We were faster than the carefully walking Instructor Weiss.

Just a few meters left and faster, then we'll be able to get inside before the professor.

There was a silent rule that it didn't matter if you were actually late, it would only matter if the professor got there before the student.

Instructor Weiss turned and saw us. It was weird that I saw a smirk on him when he examined us, before walking faster.

Oh shit, we won't make it.

The students from our class were already peeking out the room to see the supposed race.

"[Bind]!" Yuri yelled out and mana-like chains from her body had bound the professor, leaving him bewildered but only for a moment before forcibly countering the spell, evaporating it completely.

"Damn it!" Yuri grumbled in frustration.

Instructor Weiss continued to walk after that.

A step before the door.

It was then that my vision turned white and in a split second the three of us tumbled down to our seats.

What just happened?

My body quickly lunged up and stared at my classmates who had the same perplexed look on their faces. Even Instructor Weiss looked quite confused, a brow was creased but a smile was plastered on his face.

It was then that all our attention shifted to Erazubeth Kalil who burst out laughing, fell out of her chair and lying down on the floor.

"Hahahaha! That was fun!" or so she says.

"Oh god! Era stand up, the floor's dirty." I eventually helped her get up.

At that point the actual syllabus didn't matter as the whole class was wholeheartedly focused on what just happened in front of them.

"Teleportation magic." Instructor Weiss came in with the answer.

I wanted to point out that it wasn't as shocking. I wasn't familiar with it too but I thought it was common for this timelone.

But it seems that to students who were not nobles, it was unheard of. Especially to those from outside the capital.

Erazubeth who finally stopped laughing shifted next to me, "Hey. You should claim the casting." She whispered.

I initially realized why.

If Era claims that it was her who casted a spell that only nobles should know, it would misalign with the fact that she had a commoner background.

Or probably land me in trouble. I was her only close friend from before and they might think that I taught her that.

"Yes. It was teleportation magic. Even though I've only learnt it, I could at least use it for short distances." I exclaimed in the class.

Of course they looked amazed.

"It was fascinating to see that you know how to use teleportation magic." Instructor Weiss gave a small smile.

It had been a wonder how smiling became a common thing for him to us. "… Teleporting outside of the sanctuary, it meant you have quite a lot of mana, Miss." He says while looking at me but addressing with a Miss then it's probably meant for Era.

A chill went down my spine as he whispered those words from behind me.

He knows who truly casted the spell but covering for us too.

"First of all, Teleportation is a type of magic where the mage or the subject which the spell was casted on can be moved entirely from one place to another." Instructor Weiss started to explain. "It's a really risky spell to experiment and can only be done with two facilitators who can use the teleportation spell."

The class had a fun atmosphere the whole time.

It was fortunate that the three of us weren't suspended nor given punishment for casting spells just to not be late. Especially when Yuri just tried to bind the professor.

"Really, Instructor? Can you do that?" Yuri's excited voice was heard from behind me and when I look back at her, her eyes were sparkling. She couldn't hide the cold sweat running down the side her of her face though.

Her brain finally processed what she just did earlier.

Instructor Weiss who was in front, teleported right away next to Yuri and everyone in class broke down in surprise and amazement.

"Yes, Student Yuri." Instructor Weiss beamed slightly, eyes had narrowed at Yuri as if saying 'I won't fall for your schemes, but I'll act like it for now'.

"I might need assistance from Era for this…" I whispered to myself, reeling my head into finding solutions to get a lighter punishment.

"Era?" My body twisted to find her.

She was by the window, looking out, her backs turned to us. If I wasn't mistaken her shoulders were mildly trembling.

It was at that moment.

['Important Events in History' Revised]

"What?" I reacted.

"Get down!!!" Erazubeth turned back to us, horror-struck face, yelled out in a voice far different from Master.

Guuuuggghhh! Vwosh! BOOM!

Loud noises paired with intense tremors swallowed the whole area, causing most of us to plummet down to the ground.

"Aaaah!"

"What's going on?!"

"Si-sir!!! Help!"

The students from different classes were screaming and even my classmates were slowly moving towards the professor for help.

Some students fell flat on the floor. There weren't any bleeding but it would be dangerous to overlook it.

I heard the instructor click his tongue behind me.

"[Giga Barrier]!" He yelled aloud and a surge of mana came out from him, it didn't hurt us. As I look at the window the mana had become a large barrier that covered even above our floor. "The other professors will do the same thing! Please stay down! Don't hit your head! Check the other students who fell too!"

Down across the corridors, similar barrier spells were also heard to being casted.

Shit. What do I do?

The large tremors were still occurring. We're surely not receiving any damage from the outside but it would be dangerous if the building collapsed.

Several students had passed out due to fear too and some were vomiting because of dizziness. I wasn't in good condition too.

"Tabitha!" Yuri yelled out, startling me. "Above you!"

Her voice sounded very far at that moment and when I looked up, a magic circle ominously hovered down on me.

"Are you kidding me…?"
