Mana System (Part 3)
I continued examining my system menu especially the lists of spells that I have learned all my life. Accurately enough, most of them were elemental-based and the only technology ones were the magic gifted to me.
[Experiments]
[1. Inferno – Progress: 73%]
[2. Nano Kill – Progress: 89.53%]
[3. Mannequin Dance – Progress: 54.99%]
The two magic I started developing when the second civil war occurred at the age of 8 was at this stage of production already. I didn't know I was almost there. I stopped though, maybe I'll continue the experimentation again since I can see the progress.
Experiment notes were within the other files. The other Menu only had information I already know from my timeline and only a few ones were added.
Although I do hate the fact that there was a separate record about the war. A folder I can't bear to open.
After everything else, I asked a few questions here and there but never anything needed for secrecy.
We proceeded to learning about the main thing I wanted to learn the most. Magic Formulas.
"Try casting a spell slowly and opening the system at the same time."
"But the other spell would get cancelled out?" She did say earlier that the mana system was still magic emitted.
"The Mana System should be unconsciously used, it's from the brain core not the heart core. Train until you're able to use those two at the same time."
I tried to do what she said. It wasn't easy but she patiently waited and taught me basic skills to make it easier for me.
Being in a place abundant of mana played a large part in my processing abilities.
It didn't take long for me to manage to do it. "Good. You'll learn the magic formulas in the academy. You're smart and experiment magic so you'll do well."
"Can I learn it outside the academy? I don't think I need to go." That's right. I have a proper timeline to go back to. It doesn't mean that I'm not having fun being here but I'm not from here after all.
She nodded but her words were contradictory, "No. You have to study at the Academy. As a bonus, according to the letter I read, there are answers that you can get from staying in the academy. It has a specific section too."
What, really? That Cromwell Lady's scary.
But it means that the mana souls have expected me to stay here for a long period of time. The gap from this year until the Tragedy is six years.
Six years is a very long time. I don't have time to do this mission, I have dukedom appointments to attend to.
Well I guess it wouldn't really matter if the empire falls.
Alright. Saving the Sacred Tree is the most important thing. I know that but still... I'll think about this more deeply later on.
"Anyway since you've acquired the basic essentials to living properly here, let's do a mock battle." Master suggested randomly. "It'll be okay to do it for real. Any dangerous injuries are healed automatically in this place."
My heart picked up its pace. "Alright… We should do a light– " Master kicked at my head with her left foot in a split second. "Ma-master, wait!" I twisted my body to the same direction then blocked with my arm of an incoming punch.
"You have good reflexes."
I stiffened. It's been years since I moved my body for combat. "Don't stop moving, student." She didn't wait for me and throw another punch. I blocked her consecutive attacks successfully, my muscle memory doing all the work while I stayed flustered.
"Stop defending."
'This isn't good. I have to finish this as soon as I can.'
[Inferno – Progress Increased]
[Inferno – Current Progress: 76.34%]
She alternated using magic and hand-to-hand combat, sometimes making weapons out of mana.
[Inferno – Progress Increased]
[Inferno – Current Progress: 87.63%]
"Stop attacking, then." I pleaded to no avail. I could already feel the bile rising from my stomach. Desperation had, as usual, become a core part to my development as a mage.
[Inferno – Progress Increased]
[Inferno – Current Progress: 93.41%]
'Almost finished. If I have to lose then atleast I could fight for a few times and satisfy her'.
I attacked with a few high-level elemental spells. "There you go." Master smiled and countered it easily. That wasn't enough.
I could feel my breath starting to hitch.
[Inferno – Progress Increased]
[Inferno – Current Progress: 99.49%]
My eyes were starting to darken. 'Fuck'.
"[Inferno]!!!" I unintentionally yelled my spell. It had to be done so that I couldn't succumb to the fainting effect.
I managed to gain a few more minutes with that, I think.
About five large magic circles surrounded Lady Lilith after I kicked her on the spot, and melting flames erupted to her. "Shit!" Wrong move.
"You plan to kill me, Lady Tabitha?" Lady Lilith smirked but I saw cold sweats forming on her head. I activated three [Water Mirror]s, in an instant, on the blind spots of Lady Lilith while she activated a water sphere and actively dodging the melting fire.
"Ugh!" The inferno spell came back inside my core after bouncing off the mirror, my heart convulsed at the surge of mana being decomposed inside and I eventually vomited blood.
[New Personal Spell Added]
[List of Personal Spells]
[1. Dioxazine – Unlocked: Circle 8]
[2. Gravity Manipulation – Unlocked: Circle 9]
[3. Dust Palace – Unlocked: Circle 9]
[4. Sensory – Unlocked: Circle 4]
[5. Detention – Unlocked: Circle 6]
[6. Alchemy – Unlocked: Required Circle 9]
[7. Inferno – Unlocked: Required Circle 8]
I was only two levels below but since I only absorbed three instead of the five pillars of fire, it seemed to lessen the actual blow. Guess I should be thankful I didn't die on the spot at that.
"Hey! Are you okay?!" An agitated Lilith Aurelia came to where I was crouching and subtly spewing out blood.
"Ye-yeah." I laughed. My face distorted at the impact but it didn't hurt much after that, it still stings though.
"Wait no, I was being stupid of course you're not okay. The system in this place should be healing your internal wounds."
"Please excuse me. I need to use the bathroom right now." My tense nerves didn't go away even after the mock battle and I still feel like puking out my guts.
"Bathroom? You need to heal first." She restricted.
I have to vomit properly lest my sanity would shutdown.
"Too much blood." I grumbled.
"Hey! Wait!"
That didn't let me stop from standing up though, "I really need to go." My vision was flickering already.
The hands that was grasping the grass of the area was slowly absorbing the mana around everything else. Shit. It's not good that we're in an area abundant by mana.
"Quickly... cough. Get me.. underground."
'I'm too late now. I'm fainting again. The havoc phase will start as soon as I closed my eyes'
Before I collapsed on the ground, strong arms had reached and carried me. A familiar white hair entered my view.
Especially his usual gorgeous face, with a worried look.
"You look like… you're about to cry, Sir Khalique".
