Alison clenched her chopsticks against her teeth and picked the phone to stare at it. She was lost in her thoughts.
''Cousin, are you alright? You are pacing out.'' Alonso asked.
''Huh?'' Alison sighed and shook her head. 'Alonso, is it heartless to tell someone not to waste their money on you?''
''To an extent it is. If someone is willing to spend on you, that means they care about you. Spending on you doesn't have to be them giving you cash but it could also be the little things they do to make sure you are comfortable.''
''Right!''
''Did you tell someone not to waste their money on you?'' Alonso asked.
''Aye… I… you know my friend… that friend I said lives at apartment 3033.''
''Yes, I remember him.''
''The thing is… he came yesterday and brought the fruits and health tonics. I was worried that he would spend all his money on me but I seemed to have hurt him. He was quite angry and told me that it seemed he was the only one who thought we were friends. Now I feel so guilty.'' Alison sighed.
''Then, you should go to him and apologize. It's the weekend, he won't go anywhere today.''
''You think so?''
''Is it not better to mend your relationship with him? I think that he is a nice guy.''
''Right! I will be going to the penthouse to clean. When I finish, I will go and see him.''
''Mm! Eat, before the food gets cold.'' Alonso picked a piece of meat and placed it on Alison's bowl.
...
The Penthouse.
Alison opened the door and entered. The inside was so dark that she couldn't see anything. Alison touched the wall and took a few steps until she was closer to the switch. She turned the lights on and what she saw made her startled and she fell on her butt.
''Oh My God! Boss… boss, I didn't know you were in.'' Alison stuttered.
Walden turned to look at her. Because he was in his usual black mask, Alison couldn't make him up. He stood up and walked closer to her and asked.
''Are you going to sit there the whole day?''
''Huh? N… no…'' Alison quickly stood up nervously and shook her head.
''Do your job and leave. I hate noise!'' Walden said and turned towards his room.
After he left, a brick seemed to have being lifted of her chest. Alison let out a relief sigh and held the wall to aid her weak knees.
''What was that? He is so scary!'' Alison muttered and went towards the kitchen.
Walden closed the door and locked it before taking off his mask. He leaned against the door and muttered. 'She didn't recognize my voice, right?''
After an hour and half later, Alison finished preparing the turkey broth and curry rice. She served the side dishes first on the table and smiled, happy with her work.
''Aye, Alison… how long has it being since you last cooked a meal for yourself. But here you are, preparing a meal for someone else.''
Alison returned to the kitchen looked at the top cabinet where the rice bowls were. She picked the table ladder from the corner and stepped on it to reach the upper cabinet. After taking the bowl, Alison was about to step down when she missed her step and fell.
''Ah…'' Alison closed her eyes, ready for a painful impact but she suddenly felt someone's arms around her. Particularly, she fell into that person's arms.
Walden looked at the woman whose body was now in his arms and his ears turned red. This was the first time he was this close to her. He could feel every part of her body. his own body was beginning to react to it.
''Are you going to keep being in my arms forever?'' Walden asked indifferent.
''No…'' Alison shook her head and he let her down and she stepped back and almost fell again. This time, Walden stretched his arm and wrapped it around her waist, pulling her closer to himself.
Alison flushed. Standing this close to him, she could feel his heartbeat. It was beating so fast. Just like hers.
Walden pushed her back and walked away. Alison's face became red. She touched her beating heart and muttered.
''What… what is wrong with me?''
Alison was still in deep thoughts when he heard his voice.
''If you are done, leave!''
Alison picked her bag and ran out of the house. She didn't serve the rice neither did she put the broth on the table for him.
Alison ran towards the elevator. When she got in, she leaned against the elevator reel and sighed. ''What just happened?''
Alison touched her head. ''Why is my heart beating so fast? No… It's because I was flustered. The CEO suddenly came behind me and I almost fell… no, I almost fell and the CEO came to my rescue. But… how did he get there? He was definitely in his room. How did suddenly get there at that time?''
''Aye, enough with the guesses, Alison.'' Alison shook her head and sighed.
Alison got out of the elevator and looked towards the corridor. She removed her phone and swiped it up. ''He hasn't called nor texted me the whole day. Tsk, I get that he is angry but how can he not even call or send me a text the whole day? Is that how friendship is supposed to be?''
Alison turned and walked towards room 3030. When she got to the door, she raised her hand up to knock and noticed it wasn't locked.
''Oh…'' Alison pushed it wide open and walked in.
Meanwhile at the penthouse…
''Boss, how is it going with Miss Alison?'' Ali asked curiously as he stood in front of Walden while the latter ate.
Walden's ears suddenly perked up and his eyes looked up with a sharpened gaze. He muttered. ''Alison is at the apartment.''
''Huh? How did you know?'' Ali asked. He was surprised because after the death of Kaadie, a lot of Walden's senses disappeared due to his trauma. He was greatly affected by her death that a lot of his senses began to fail him.
Walden put the chopsticks down and looked at Ali. ''I thought my senses were completely gone but that night, after kissing Alison, I found that I could hear her thoughts when she is close by. I can even sense how she feels when we are in the same vicinity. This afternoon, she was going to take a bowl from the up cabinet. I saw her falling from the ladder and true to it, when I came out, she was indeed about to fall.''
