''Hey, hey, stop playing detective on the boy. He looks so innocent and harmless. If he was a bad person, wouldn't he have done something to you last night while you slept?'' Lucia folded her arms and asked.
Alison thought deeply and shook her head, ''no, no. This is wrong. What if the police come for me? What will I say to them?''
''Lady Alison, about that… last night you and I went to the police station and you told them I was your cousin. I also told them you were right.''
''What? Are you crazy?'' Alison looked at Lucia and Alonso with a weird expression. She shook her head adding, ''I think we need to go to the police station to affirm this.''
Ding dong! The doorbell rang.
''Wait here!'' Alison said and went to the door. When she opened the door, she saw a policeman dressed in the police outfit.
''You are…''
'Miss Davis, right?'' the policeman asked.
''Yes, I am!''
''Last night, you brought a teenager home and said he was your cousin, right?'' The Policeman looked inside the house as he spoke.
''Officer, it's good that you are here…'' Alison pulled the policeman inside the apartment and pointed at Alonso.
''Officer, I must have gone crazy last night. This boy, I don't know him at all.'' Alison said and frowned when everyone in the room looked at her with weird gazes. She was speaking so fast, she didn't realize how ridiculous her words were.
''But when we checked your family database, he is really your cousin. He is Alonso Davis.''
''Huh?'' Alison felt that she was the crazy one. Lucia found it normal, Alonso looked too innocent, she couldn't remember what happened last night and now this policeman was saying Alonso was her real cousin''
''Officer, I have just two cousins and they are so obnoxious. We don't see eye to eye. He…''
''Miss Davis, you begged us to let him come with you. You signed on these documents that you will be responsible for him so that he won't go wayward. I came to give you the amended documents. A copy has being sent to the court, so this boy is now under your care.''
''What is happening here? How can I wake up and suddenly have a cousin I am supposed to take care of? I can't even take care of myself.''
''Have a good day, Miss Davis!'' the officer said and walked out.
Alison looked at the document in her hands and turned to look at Alonso.
''Cousin, I finished preparing breakfast.'' Alonso said.
''You are really adapting to changes, right? Look, I don't remember anything but you can't stay with me. I will give you money to get a place.''
''The police will arrest you if they find out.'' Lucia said.
''This is so messed up.'' Alison went to sit at the table.
''Alison, let's go first. I will call the moving truck and come and help us move.''
''Move? I didn't agree to move.''
''You will have to move sooner or later. You now have a mouth to feed, he needs his own room too.''
Alison sighed and placed the paper on the table. She went and picked her clothes and went into the bathroom.
When she left, Lucia and Alonso looked at each other.
''Lady Lucia, do you think she will agree to it?'' Alonso asked.
''Don't worry; she won't be able to get rid of you. Sit down and eat.''
''Thank you, lady Lucia.''
….
A while later, Alison came out after changing into a black outfit. She walked to the table and looked at Lucia and Alonso whom were busy eating and muttered.
''For people who are visitors, you would think they would wait for the owner of the house before they start eating…''
Alison pulled the chair and sat down. She pulled her plate and started eating. As she ate, her eyes remained glued on Alonso. She was finding him suspicious by the second.
''Cousin, why are you looking at me like that? It's there something on my face?'' Alonso asked.
''Stop calling me cousin. I hate all my cousins because they are mean to me. The word itself gives me trauma and headache.'' Alison said with a glare.
''Then, lady Alison…''
''Hey! What 'lady Alison', do you think we are in the stone age?''
''Alison, then choose a name he can address you by and stop confusing the boy. Do you want him to call you cousin or lady Alison?'' Lucia asked.
''Just call me elder sister from now onwards.''
''Does that mean you've accepted him?'' Lucia asked.
''No! He is just going to be here for a little while. I will find his parents and hand him over. I can't even take care of myself. How can I take care of a teenager?''
''Right, the papers. I've called the moving team, we will leave for the new place after our meal.''
''I still have three months left in my rent. I can't let that go to waste.''
''So, you would stay here for the remainder of the three months?''
''Yes!''
''Your curtains are see through, do you want the innocent boy to get nosebleed when he sees you naked?''
''Hey!'' Alison yelled.
''Hey! What? I can't believe you are even 26 years. You are so petty like an 18 year-old''
''Let's make things clear, about that apartment. I won't be the one paying for gas, water and light.''
''Hey! How can you be so ungrateful? I got you a lifetime apartment and you want me to pay for gas, water and light?''
''That is a lifetime apartment? I won't have to pay anything else again?''
''What do you think?''
''Well… you should have said that earlier on. Thank you for the apartment. As for the others, I will handle them.'' Alison rubbed Lucia's hand affectionately.
''You little wrench.''
Watching them go back and forth, Alonso couldn't help but smile. It was just yesterday but he felt like he was finally in a normal environment. Even though he missed his parents, he had to admit it was better here than with them. His mother was always controlling and over excessive about his health. He found that annoying sometimes.
''What are you smiling for?'' Alison asked.
''Nothing… elder sister.''
''Eat fast, we need to pack. You didn't bring anything with you, right? I will take you shopping after we settle later in the day''
''Yes, elder sister''
Alison smiled as she ate her food.
