Just as my punch was about to hit Diether in the face, my nose started to itch for no reason. This made me sneeze. The quick break in the action left the people watching stunned, and their faces showed how confused they were.
My strike was totally off, which made me wonder, "Why did I sneeze just then?" Diether's blow also missed its target, causing him to stumble backward and yell, "What are you doing, and keep your distance!"
Before I could think more about my strange sneeze, I heard another hit coming my way. I accidentally took a step back and bumped into someone who was standing behind me. When I turned around to see who I had hit, I couldn't help but smile.
I couldn't help but mutter, "How fortunate."
After that, Jan Mark, who had fallen when I accidentally ran into him, got back up. Two of his other friends stood there with him. They gave Jan Mark a pat on the shoulder and said something like, "We're here to support you."
Even though I tried my best, another outbreak of chaos made my already messy look even worse.
In the middle of all the chaos, Jan Mark said to me, "This guy betrayed us, so...deal with him!"I was confused, and the first thing that came to mind was, "What is he talking about?" I just tripped and hit him by mistake.' I was about to get hit in the face three times when I got hit in the back of the head. This made me stumble forward and lose my balance.
I turned my head just in time to see three hits land on my face at the same time. One of them broke my nose and sent me flying backward. I was thrown about two meters away and hit my nose when I fell on a chair in the classroom. It was hard to land.
I said to myself, "All I wanted was some food and revenge...why, you guys..." as I pointed at the group. Even though my head hurt like crazy, I forced myself to laugh and went on with my day.
Diether got closer to me, and even though I saw him coming, I decided to stay away. As he got closer, he reached out to us to say hello.
He made the offer, "Two drinks and three pieces of bread... Deal?"
After hearing what he had to say, I smiled wryly at him, grabbed his hand, and pulled myself up. Wounds on my face, including one on my nose that had been bleeding just a few minutes before, started to heal at an amazing rate.
During the chaos, people could hear their shocked screams coming from my face as it healed. As soon as the pain went away, I went back to what I was doing. When Jan Mark finally understood that what I had done wasn't meant to betray him, his doubt was clear.
I wanted Jan Mark, who was feeling his shoulder where I had accidentally hit him, to know that I hadn't meant to hit him. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit you," I told him.
Jan Mark looked surprised, but after he thought about it for a while, he nodded to say that it had been a mistake.
During this time, the fight I was having with Diether seemed to be getting even more attention than before. Some of the kids gathered around as if they were watching a wrestling fight and yelled their support for one of the two sides.
After getting cuts and bruises during our friendly fighting, Diether and I decided that it was time to stop. We both gave each other knowing looks as we agreed that our argument was more about pride than about hurt feelings.
I said "Deal," and I took Diether up on his offer of a break, which was drinks and bread.
As we gave each other a handshake, the cheers from the crowd got louder. We were left to pick ourselves up, clean ourselves off, and get on with the rest of the day while the people watching went back to their dinners and conversations.
Even though the noise was going down, I couldn't stop thinking about the strange series of events that had just happened. In high school, there was never a boring moment, and new friends often came out of the most strange situations.
