Ch-24
"Lady, the originally assigned guards are nowhere to be found," Carl said as he entered the basement. He handled the situation in the banquet hall and decided to look into the situation. That's when the question of the original guards popped up.
"Where did you check?" she asked.
"All the hotel rooms," he replied.
"Since their target and mission are done in fifteen minutes. Then it means, they were in a hurry. They will just hide them somewhere. So… it shall be around that area, not the whole hotel. Use little brain and find them," Ella said mercilessly stabbing him.
"I will go with him," Evelynn said.
Carl nodded his head at her.
Evelynn and Carl went to find the guards.
"Lady Ella, who are the current threats to you right now?" Joe asked.
Ella wanted to say but her tongue was tied. Joe understood her predicament. He knew their real business.
"A shift of power will put the power, and resources in the hands of younger blood. Younger blood will be more frivolous and unruly. They do things that they cannot handle. Maybe you shall look from that angle," Joe said.
"Thanks for your advice, kid. We will know the abductor in half an hour. Sit down for now," Ella said.
Ella was no child, to not guess this. She already made Carl ask their men to dig for information about their enemies. She doesn't need to be said.
But seeing Joe say this which Callum and Carl didn't say, he attracted her attention. He was a talent in her eyes.
On the other hand…
"Miss?" Carl called out nervously.
"Evelynn, Eve," she said with a smile.
A smile formed on his lips involuntarily as he looked at her smile.
"Rooms are checked thoroughly by me," he said.
"Who said we are checking rooms?" Evelynn asked.
They went back to the room and checked the spots where the bodyguards stood.
"Why is this room locked?" Evelynn asked as she pointed to the room which was on the opposite side of the corridors.
"That was the store room. It hasn't been opened in years. Even the keys are lost," Carl replied.
"Let's break it," Evelynn said.
"That won't be fruitful," he said.
"If it is?" she questioned him back.
He just sighed.
"You do realize the importance of the situation. It's a miracle that someone kidnapped your master. If it's possible that door is nothing," Evelynn said.
Carl was satisfied with the answer. With that, he walked that way. He kicked the door to open it. It didn't open in a few tries. Then he decided to break the lock. He tried to punch it, but he only hurt his hand rather than opening it.
"Stop," Evelynn stopped him.
She called a waitress and asked her to bring a hammer to break the door. In a few minutes, she returned with a hammer.
Evelynn and Carl broke the door and entered the room. The room was covered in dust and debris. They coughed a little when they saw the state of the room.
Carl's eyes carefully wandered around the room. He saw something weird in the corner.
Pulling those sheets which didn't seem to be dusty, he saw two of those bodyguards laying unconscious.
He tried to wake them up but they weren't budging.
"I will bring water," she said and ran off.
She brought some water and sprinkled it on their faces.
"Are you okay?" she asked them.
They nodded.
"Black Ocean," One of them muttered before they lost consciousness.
"Let's get them to the hospital," Evelynn said. Carl nodded.
