As she sat there, distracted by the swirling thoughts in her mind, Reggie suddenly looked up from his tablet.
"Are you going to tell Dad about the surprise?" he asked, his tone teasing.
Luciana blinked, surprised by the question. She hadn't even realized Reggie had picked up on her secret. She chuckled nervously, ruffling his hair.
"Shh," she whispered. "It's a surprise. You can't tell him, okay?"
Reggie grinned. "I won't, but I think he already knows. He's been acting weird these days, like he's waiting for something."
Luciana's heart skipped a beat. Could Oscar already sense what was coming? She hadn't been the best at hiding her excitement, but she had hoped she had managed to keep it under wraps.
Just then, Oscar walked into the room, holding a plate of food. He set it down in front of Luciana and Reggie, smiling warmly. "Dinner's ready. You two starving yet?"
"Always," Reggie replied, his eyes lighting up as he dug into the food.
