Just as Ella was about to implement her grand master plan of "strategic interference," her phone buzzed. She gasped, nearly dropping it in her excitement.
Mary, who was still half-asleep and regretting every life choice that led her to this moment, groaned. "Please tell me it's not another plan."
Ella ignored her, squinting at the screen. When she saw the sender, her heart nearly leaped out of her chest.
Magnar: Mother, I need your help with the wedding preparations. After-party too. We got the marriage certificate.
For a solid five seconds, Ella simply stared at the message, her brain short-circuiting. Then—
"MARY!!!"
Mary flinched. "What? Did the grandkids arrive early?"
"He's married!" Ella shrieked, shoving the phone into Mary's face. "They got the certificate! My son is a married man!"
