They did not find it. Even with the help of Lucy, they did not find the documents that Leah remembered she had kept inside that particular box.
When they did not find it, Lucy repeatedly asked them to check the entire closet just in case she might have placed it somewhere else. Even though she was sure that she had not, they ended up going to her entire closet.
