Leah did not return to the apartment empty-handed. She had a large pizza box in her hand, accompanied by six cans of Coke.

Lucy may come home in the evening or by tomorrow morning and Leah wanted to be ready for it. Amelia was going to get back to the apartment the next morning anyway and was going to be very persistent about eating good food instead of food from outside. So eating pizza for tonight was probably fine.

The apartment was uncharacteristically silent when she arrived, which meant that Lucy was not home.

For a moment, he stood at the door, watching the apartment from the entrance and laughed at the irony of how her life and her apartment appeared to be the same at the moment.

Cold, dark, silent, and just miserable.

She turned on the lights of the living room, kept the pizza on the counter of the kitchen, and grabbed herself some chilled orange juice.
