"Mr Balforth actually checked out three days ago. We are not expecting him back until the end of the week."
"What?" She whispered, the hope that she felt lit in her chest died. "Thank you." That was unexpected and unfortunate. Something that she did not count on while she was rushing here. She whispered the words before turning around only to come to a halt.
"Leah."
"Hi," Leah whispered breathlessly, "papa." She blinked at the sight of her father, standing in front of her, way earlier than the time that he had decided lunch would be at.
At the distance that he was standing, Leah wondered if he had heard what she had just asked the receptionist. She had whispered, so the likeliness was a little less but yeah, her father was quite suspicious from the looks of it already.
"I thought you were coming around two. It's barely one."
