Chapter 18 - In a boy's wear

Who will help her with this? She took her phone out of her pocket and texted Gina to help her but she received no response from her. Mona sighed and went through her contact to see Derick's name. Should she. . .?

She stared into space for a while before sending her text to him.

Derick was in the boy's locker with his friends preparing for the sport when his phone rang. Occasionally, he doesn't care about text messages but this time, he checked his messages while he was putting on his sock. Derick was into football.

He saw Mona's text and gasped. Immediately he stood up and sent her a response. 'where are you?'

That question was kind of hard to answer. The answer shouldn't be exposed but she told him as she was shivering in the toilet. Mona's nose went runny and she sneezed multiple times. Derick gave her assurance before ending their conversation.

Mona left her elbows that were resting on her legs firm and let her head fall on her entwined fists. She waited for Derick to come to help her.

Derick paced around the boy's locker and the space he and his friends occupied was becoming kind of noisy. "Where's Jake?" He finally asked his friend with the dyed hair to the colour green. Abraham shrugged and stared at the fake Blondy next to him.

"Since he's not here, I'll use his uniform," Derick concluded and went to the boy's locker to get the uniform. None of them protested, they were never against sharing their belongings. Derick made it snappy, he changed into his friend's wear and took his wear to the girls' room.

He still had feelings for the girl, so he chose his wear instead of his friend's. She should wear his. He wasn't shy or was feeling confined when he opened the door to the girls' room. "Mona," he whispered as he strode through all the doors.

The moment Mona heard his voice, she got energized, she didn't know he would really come to her rescue because she broke his heart yesterday. She whispered back and told him her location. Mona opened the door to meet the tall guy. She looked pale and was stinky.

"Mona!" He rushed to her and wiped her face. "You were bullied." He assumed.

"I don't know, everything just happened," she lowered her gaze to see her body still dripping water.

Derick stared at her for a while and gave the wear to her. "Wear this, I'll be waiting outside for you." He shouldn't bug her about how all this happened so he smiled a fake smile before leaving the restroom.

Mona changed and squeezed the water out of her uniform, she did this same to her hair and finally left the restroom with the big wear she had on.

Derick was resting on the wall playing with his feet as he waited for Mona. When she walked out, she looked still pale but a little okay. And she was holding her wet uniform in her hand. She looked small in the wear she had on because the clothes were actually for a boy but Mona had no choice and she was thankful it was big because she wasn't wearing her bra, it was wet already. She hid the bra in between her clothes so Derick wouldn't view it.

Derick pushed himself to his feet and went closer to the girl that had her head bent, Mona sneezed due to her anxiety. She wondered what Derick had in mind to do to her. The boy brought out the handkerchief he had and wiped her face with it before trying to help with her hair.

"Your hair. . ." He was about to say but she cut him off.

" I know, I'll have to attach another to it or maybe leave my hair that way." She explained and sneezed again.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

Mona nodded and shook her head. " I'm okay and not okay. Thank you, Derick." She lifted her gaze at him. The boy accepted her appreciation with his facial expression.

"What really happened?"

"I don't. . .want to ta-lk about it." She said and sneezed again before rubbing her nose.

"Come let me take you to the school clinic." He circled her into his hand and led her out of there.

Mona took her uniform to her locker before going to the clinic. When she reached the clinic. Derick left her because he was needed in the tournament.

Mona sat there for a while before leaving the clinic, she didn't let the nurse tend to her or inform the nurse before leaving as she knew nothing was wrong with her but if she told Derick, he wouldn't understand. Mona walked through the hall, she didn't want to attend classes that day. She also wanted to go home instantly but she had no excuse so she decided to stay in an empty class the whole day. Everywhere had gone silent because almost all students were having classes while some were having sports. Every student should be busy by now but she was unfortunate to be walking around and right now she should avoid being seen by the school administrators.

Her mind was already tired of wandering so she just focused on being not caught. She climbed the stairs and reached the second floor. With that, she walked across busy classes but no teacher would think she was skipping classes, they would think she had to use the bathroom.

"Mona," Just when she reached the empty class, she heard her name and turned to see Mr Ken's stern face. She hugged her hands together as she waited for him to reach her.

"Mr Ken," with a lower head, she spoke.

"Are you okay?" He asked, her pale face was so visible. She shook her head. "Why aren't you in class?" He asked. "Tell me you aren't. . ."

"No, I was. . . going." His gaze hushed her when she looked up at him. "Yes." She admitted.

"Hmm," he studied her before handing her the books he had with him. "Follow me to my office." He went ahead.

"Huh?" She turned around.

"I'm helping you as a friend and you are. . ." He frowned. Mona obediently followed him to his office. Only two male teachers were present and she greeted them before sitting with Mr Ken.

No one could be suspicious because she was never the only female student he punished by giving them scripts to grade. Some teachers even ask for his help.

But now he was helping the girl by punishing her. Her mind was transparent to him, he could hear her loud thought.

After having her seat, she dropped the books and looked at the figure next to her. "Okay, your parents. . ."

"Mummy told me last night." She lowered her gaze only to see the red hairclip her mother go for her on his desk. How did it get to his desk?
