Chereads / A Must Bond / Chapter 2 - The smart Man

Chapter 2 - The smart Man

When Mona arrived home, she greeted her parents and went straight to her room. Landing in bed heavily, she did just as the handsome stranger told her to. To search why he didn't share his phone number.

'He might not like you'

'Perhaps he has a girlfriend'

'Possible that he's gay'

People's opinions kept rushing in, thus, Mona realized that he might actually have a girlfriend.

The realization did nothing but ruin her mood. She then tossed her phone and lay in bed, sulking about it. With that, she fell asleep.

Mona could sleep alone when the sun was still out.

The next day, Mona prepared for school and was escorted by her driver to school.

When the car stopped by the roadside, right in front of the school, she sighted Gina, her best friend.

The girl didn't think twice before screaming out her friend's name, and when Gina looked her way, she grabbed her bag and hopped out of the car.

"See you by noon, Ben!" Mona waved at her driver and approached Gina. Their conversations were always childish. And Mona didn't forget to tell Gina about meeting Mr handsome again.

Gina didn't believe her and Mia was ready to prove that she wasn't lying but there was no time as class had started.

However, their mathematics teacher didn't show up. This made Mona happy. Mathematics was her enemy, she hated the subject and never planned to ameliorate it. She loved her indolent attitude to learning mathematics.

With that, concluding that no teacher would come to teach mathematics, Mona rose to her feet and approached the front door. Her seat was at the back of the class.

She aimed to go to the science department and watch them experiment on different topics she was intrigued by.

However, on getting out of the class, she absentmindedly bumped into someone with a steel-like body.

Mona rubbed her forehead, exaggerating the situation, and slowly raised her head to glare at whoever it was. "Try focusing on your direction!"

The man cocked his head to one side and placed his hand on her shoulder to push her gently as she was more than close to his body.

"Mister?" With a bright face, she whispered, happy to see the handsome man again. This was fate! She exclaimed internally.

"Mona Sanchez," he called her name according to the tag on her uniform.

Mona grimaced but deep down, she was glad.

What if he actually came looking for her? The thought of that made her body burn as it appeared romantic to her.

"I recall you saying that you aren't a student or am I standing in front of your lookalike?" Asked the handsome stranger.

Mona ignored his question and uttered, "Let me guess, you are in this school because you are looking for me," Mona sighed. "Fortunately for you, I'm right here," she introduced herself.

"Why would I be here for you?" He handed her a stack of books before tugging her back into the class by her shoulder.

Noise arose when the man entered as the students expressed their respect by standing up and greeting him. Afterward, they settled back down.

"It's so nice to meet you all!" With a grin, he exclaimed and glanced at Mona, who was confused.

"I'd appreciate it if you all address me as Mr Ken. I am your new mathematics teacher!" The new teacher simply introduced himself.

The girls were the first to applaud him for his presence and introduction.

Mona's mouth dropped open. Math teacher? Why? Why him?! She cursed.

Mr Ken smiled at her and collected the books. "To your seat, Miss Mona," he motioned.

After eyeing him with displeasure, she moved her feet and walked to the back, then, had her seat.

Mona looked up at her mathematics teacher to see his mouth moving but she wasn't listening to what he was saying. She was mesmerized by his appearance.

Soon, Mr Ken started the lesson which Mona found boring all the time. She brought out her phone and placed a book in front of her, acting like she was reading and concentrating.

She lifted her phone which fortunately didn't break yesterday and took a picture of her math teacher, then she uploaded it on her social media account with the caption; 'My handsome mathematics teacher'

She received comments like;

'Wow, he's so handsome. What school do you attend? I want to see him'

'I can sense your crush on him but girl, he is mine'

'Oh, I can see the both of us together in the future, my husband! (With an emoji)'

Mona was so busy chatting with her online friends that she lost track of herself. She didn't even hear when Mr Ken called her attention.

Kenny dropped the marker and walked elegantly to her seat. He was well aware of what she was doing. He could even hear and read her mind and was also listening to how busy she was right now.

"Miss Mona." Not his voice brought her back but his presence and his scent.

She was caught! Her body was alarmed so she nervously looked up to see him staring at her strictly. His gaze told her she was going to get punished.

"Ah—Um—Mister—" She thought she could escape and hide her phone but his gaze showed her how aware he was.

The whole class was watching and her best friend signalled to her that she was in trouble. This wasn't the first time she was caught using her phone in class when the lesson was ongoing.

Mona was supposed to have graduated high school but she was too dumb to understand anything in mathematics. She always failed math.

"Hand over that phone." Mr Ken extended his hand.

"Phone you say, Mr Ken?"

"I'm not joking Mona, stand up," his voice was now stern that it shook her guts. Mona stood up. She was never embarrassed about the way her classmates stared at her, some expressions were in pity while some were exasperated.

Mona lowered her head and brought out the phone slowly before handing it to him. After snatching the phone from her, he planted it in his pocket and walked back to the board.

He turned around to see she was seated. "Did I ask you to sit, Miss Mona?!"

She gazed up at him and stood up again. "I'm sorry, Mr Ken," her voice sounded quiet and innocent.

After eyeing her, he returned to explain how to solve for X and Y. Mona was listening and Mr Ken was happy about that but soon, she yawned.

What a difficult subject, so boring. She thought to herself and looked around her to see other girls with their phones. How come Mr Ken didn't see them? So unfair.

'Mr Ken caught me but not Deborah, Victoria, and Stephanie' she frowned at him for taking her happiness away.

"Deborah, Victoria, Stephanie!" She heard Mr Ken call out. "Those phones drop them on the table," he ordered without turning to face them.

"But…" Deborah wanted to protest and lie. But when she saw the stern side of Mr Ken, she stood up and the rest did the same.

"Stand still like Mona is doing," he added. "I hope you understand how I got 7 and 15?" He then asked the class.

The students at the front seat replied positively.

"I don't understand a thing!" Mona knew that solving the equation was a long journey but she wanted her revenge.

"You never understand a thing in mathematics." The boy sitting next to her uttered, indicating that she needed not to understand.

Mr Ken sighed. The girl was being a pain in the neck already, just on the first day of work.

"I understand, Mr Ken." A girl with brown eyes spoke when his gaze fell on her. He noticed she had been staring at him the whole time. But he just nodded and moved his gaze to notice that 90 out of 100 of the girls were dazzled by him.

Will they ever learn if he was this handsome? He sighed again.

"What part did you not understand, Miss Mona?"

"I understand nothing in the whole equation," she flipped her braids.

"Okay, who understands this well?" He pointed to the board, facing the class.

"I understand well," Derrick answered. His hair was black and in a bang style and his eyes were intently dark.

"Good, please tutor Mona," Mr Ken said.

"No problem, Mr Ken." The boy glanced at Mona, who was overly displeased. The man was too smart. She glared at Mr Ken for winning.

Then she felt someone's eyes on her so she had to glance to her side to see Derrick staring at her. He was sitting by the wall with Gina. Mona forced a smile to curl on her lips as that was the only reaction she could express to his weird stares
