The man closed the door behind him and switched on the light to his small apartment. He had dealt with his annoying neighbour before entering, he stared around his house and sighed. Living like this was better and more comfortable even though he was financially unstable. From his point of view as he stood resting on his closed door, by his right was the two one-seater chair facing across from each other with the wooden table in between. The couch was behind and across the couch was the small television.
By Kenny's left was his small dining room, a table made of plastic and had just two chairs surrounding it.
Across him was the short corridor to his room, bathroom and kitchen. The apartment was suitable for a person, a person who had so little.
He dropped his dinner on the dining table and walked on the tiled floor to his room to freshen up.
After cleaning himself, he wore just shorts without any shirt as his apartment had a window in each room so the heat was sure to occur.
He settled on his dining table and unwrapped his meal before serving himself. Eating slowly, he recalled Mona's mood. He recalled the whole day actually but Mona's part of the day was important. He sat up and sighed. What should he do about her stupid friend?
It wasn't his business, it was a business between two high school students so how does it concern him? Was he slowly getting fond of the girl Mona? She was playful and fun. Her smile looks funny that sometimes he couldn't hold back his. Her exaggerations were cute and her naughty attitude was annoying but silly.
He picked up his phone and went through it slowly as he eat so he decided to open his Discord app to see messages from the school server. He scrolled down reading silence but soon he received a message from his student Mona.
Mona was glad that her parents weren't home when she arrived because they'd question her endlessly about her rotten mood. She took herself to her room and threw her bag on the couch she had by the side of her room.
She didn't bother to change her uniform, she just lay on her belly in bed and covered her whole body with her green bedsheets. Her room was the colour green.
She wasn't thinking of anything but her feelings were hurt by the person she liked so much, she rolled over to lay on her back, and after staring at the ceiling for five minutes, she carried her phone and lay on her belly again.
She suddenly remembered she saw Mr Ken earlier and the way she shunned him wasn't right, he just wanted to know. . .help perhaps. He cared.
The thought of that, that he cared brought a small smile to her face. When she opened her discord app. She saw Mr Ken not online. With that, she tossed her phone to the bed.
After a few minutes, she picked it up again and checked, her heart suddenly woke up again, she sat up and crossed her legs before typing 'Mr Ken' as he was already online.
The man read her message and read their previous conversation to see that she hadn't replied to him when he told her to read. What a stubborn girl.
He drink water and replied to her. 'Yes Mona'
Mona stared at her phone for a while thinking about what to give as a response. 'I'm sorry'
'What for?'
'I spoke disrespectfully to you earlier, I wasn't thinking'
'Oh, I'm used to you talking disrespectfully'
Mona grimaced her face and eyed her phone as if it was Kenny. 'But I've apologized Mr Ken'
'Whatever'
The conversation ended and after a few minutes, she decided to ask and continue. 'Um, Mr Ken. . .I saw this video online about two girls who are close friends, they've been friends for two years and had almost everything in common but one of the girls is black and the other is white, one is rich and the other is not so rich. The White girl likes a boy who likes the black girl and the White girl thinks it was all the black girl's skims. So, she blames the black girl for always having the boy's attention but the black girl isn't interested in him at all, she even wants her friend and the boy to hang out together but things aren't going well with the two friends.' she sent her long text to Mr Ken.
'What do you want me to do about it?' he replied almost immediately.
Mona was surprised, did he even read her text? She asked him. 'I'm a fast reader, I'm a teacher Mona!'
'I just wanted to share it with someone'
'Why not with your friend?' He knew she was referring to herself, what a liar. Lying about the situation being a video.
'She's upset with me, we aren't on good terms' Mona replied.
'So precisely the video is about you and your friend am I right?'
Mona stared at her phone for a while. How can this man be so smart? 'Yes,' she admitted.
'Was that why you were upset earlier?'
'Yes'
'You don't want to lose the friendship you share with her'
'Yes'
'What do you want to do about it?'
'I don't know'
'Hmm, what do you want me to do?'
'I didn't expect anything from you, Mr Ken, I just wanted to share it because it's bothering me'
'Mona, if she doesn't value the relationship you both share and is ready to let it go because of some boy. She doesn't deserve to be your friend'
Mona was quick to rebuke. 'No, Gina isn't like that, she was just scared and worried that I might betray her. I promised to help her out and I will'
'Okay, if you say so, Miss Mona'
'Mr Ken'
Kenny could hear her voice and could imagine the look she would have on her face if she called him that way face to face.
'What is it?'
Mona knew that that was going to be his response. 'Thank you for hearing me out'
He nodded and replied. 'It's okay, see you tomorrow Mona, good night'
After reading his response, she dropped her phone and buried her face in her open palms. She felt relieved talking about it with someone especially Mr Ken, her prince charming. He was the best teacher ever but before he was her teacher, he was someone she knew so he must be a friend to her.
Mona had lost her appetite but now that she had a conversation with Mr Ken, she stood up and went to have her bath. Her happy heart had begun to function again. Tomorrow was going to be another new day, she should start it anew!
