Chapter 6 - Crushing sound

Mona was faced with the challenge of asking Mr Ken for help while he was surrounded by the lady.

She stood at a distance, observing them, Mr Ken understood her intention. He was able to read her mind and escape from Rachel after hearing Mona's pleas.

He hated women's company but why was it that they never noticed? They did notice but were just too ignorant of his expression. He ran to Mona and she stared up at him with that pleading look.

"What is it this time?" He asked with a lazy expression.

Mona explained only for him to laugh at how scared she was of the dark. "I thought teachers don't make fun of their students."

"And I thought students were to respect their teachers."

"I do respect you, Mr Ken."

"By asking about my age and asking what I was doing outside in the night and also asking if I am single?" He stated some points to prove that he wasn't wrong. Therefore, she was speechless.

With that, Kenny took steps forward in the direction of her house. Mia followed him and clung to him, but he pushed her away as he wasn't welcoming her closeness to his body.

"Earlier, when that lady was touching you, you didn't complain." Mona didn't stay away from him because she was scared.

"You are still a young girl, Mona," he countered, but she had forgotten about the topic.

Mona suddenly froze in fear as a cat passed by her. She stood still, rooted to the spot, and let out a scream of horror. After shouting for a while, she squatted down and hugged herself tightly, breathing heavily.

Kenny attempted to clarify the situation to her, but she continued to believe that it was a witch. Ken chuckled and helped her stand up. "You should go home and get some sleep so that you can make it to school on time tomorrow," he reminded her, raising his eyebrows.

"I'm scared," her chin quivered. Mona looked around her to see just darkness.

"If you didn't come outside this late you wouldn't be in this situation."

"It's not my fault, I didn't expect the street lights to have problems," she defended herself.

Kenny, who had the ability to see clearly in the dark, decided to guide Mona back to her house while keeping the conversation going. However, as they walked, he realized he didn't know where she lived, so he came to a sudden stop and asked, "Where do you live?"

Upon inspecting her surroundings, Mona noticed that they had already passed her house. She quickly turned on her phone's flashlight to illuminate the area and locate her house.

With that, he followed her back. Soon they were standing by the gate to her mansion. Her parents were wealthy enough.

Seeing him stare at her house, she felt pity for him but didn't say a word because she didn't want to sound disrespectful again.

Mona went ahead and wrapped him but Kenny pushed her away gently as he didn't like the gesture.

Mona didn't complain, she leaned away and flipped her braids. "Good night, Mr Ken," she said and went in without waiting for his response.

She hated that he refused her gesture. She fell into bed in her parent's room while waiting for them. She buried herself in her bedsheets letting her thoughts wander.

The next day, the class were murmuring about how cute Mr Ken was. Some even knew that he lived in the same area as Mona but when they asked her about it she didn't respond to their satisfaction so they insulted her.

The class was never serious about their harsh words, so Mona didn't bother herself about it. Still busy with her phone, she remembered the feeling of being in his arms.

Yes, she admired him a lot but what were those feelings?

Why does she feel sad whenever she sees him with another woman?

To find answers, she made a post online and waited for comments but Mr Ken entered the class with his books as usual.

She reluctantly dragged her gaze from her phone and tossed it into her bag after turning on the silent mode. Mona joined her classmates to greet the mathematics teacher.

Mr Ken didn't glance at her not even once and she didn't either. They were not fighting but she didn't know why her mood was just awful.

His explanation on the last topic entered her ear but slipped out of the other and suddenly she remembered she had chips under her desk.

Mona now glanced at Mr Ken to see that his gaze was fixed on the board as he explained the equation. She made sure the wrapper made no sound as she ripped it open.

Mona planted a few in her mouth and chewed while fake writing on her book.

Mr Ken was aware but didn't react as he didn't want to always use his super abilities to catch their mischievous action, so he played dumb and turned around only to meet her gaze that could tell anyone smart that she was doing something dubious.

Kenny dropped his marker and walked past the students as he had given them an equation to solve, so they all had their eyes on their books.

Mona prayed he didn't notice her actions but still she kept eating and solving the equation she didn't understand. Although she was stealing her information from Michael, who was sitting next to her in the chair.

Mr Ken was surveying their works and when he got to her roll she swallowed and wondered why his presence brought her heart to hammer. She swallowed the chip and continued to steal her information. Soon, he got to her seat and surveyed her work only to chuckle. Kenny turned to the other roll.

Mona heaved a sigh of relief. She planted another set of chips in her mouth as fast as she could but the crushing sound attracted his attention.

Mona knew she was in trouble. She lifted her gaze slowly, scared to see his reaction, and smiled bizarrely.

"Eating in my class?" He asked and the whole class chuckled silently. Mona was always getting on the nerves of teachers.

"Mr Ken," she wanted to plead but he gestured for her to hand over the stuff she was eating but she only handed the wrapper as she had finished its content.

He stared at her exasperatedly which crushed her heart. "Trash it and stand at the back" he instructed her.

"Yes, Mr Ken," Mona didn't argue this time. She went to stand at the back of the class obediently.
