"It's okay!" I heard Lyart shout in the background, but I ignored her. Intent on teaching the demon a lesson of his life, I continued slashing through his body.
He fought deadly for a short while before he finally gave up.
Though he might be dead, I'm not satisfied with it. I felt like I needed to teach him more than a lesson.
He's not supposed to die so soon. He needs—
"It's okay, my King. He's already dead," Lyart tried to touch me, but I sent balls of fire at her.
She shrieked in pain, but I know it was only a matter of time until she gets righted, back to her feet.
After all, she's not the head of my soldiers, for naught.
I continued slashing through the dead demon, howling as I did so. But is still wasn't satisfied at all. I want to tear through him.
"The human!" Lyart gasped.
Without a waste of time, I threw the remains of the stupid Demon, into the fire.
I rushed to the human and cradled his head.
"You're okay now." I whisper to the unconscious male, "no one is going to hurt you ever again. You're safe."
"You need to take him back to the palace. He has to be checked on by—"
" Shut up!" I growl in anger, and that seemed to shake the foundation of my Kingdom.
"I'm sorry, my king." She knelt on the floor.
I carried the human up from the floor and gently placed him in my arms before I teleported.
"Gods!" Bel shrieked when I teleported to her room unexpectedly.
"Aren't you a shameless one?" I frown at her. I walked over to her bed and lay the human on it.
"Can you blame me?" She said with a roll of her eyes before her eyes landed on the bed. "Oh my, what happened to him!" She stood from her dressing chair and walked toward us.
"A higher Demon prince had him," I explained. Balling my hands into fists, I imagined he was right in front of me.
"Where's he?"
"Is that a question?"
"Forget I said anything." She closed the distance between us," I kind of know the fate of anyone who pissed you off to the extent of having you let your powers loose."
I grumbled but didn't answer her.
The entire people of my kingdom are aware of the fact I don't keep anyone who pissed me off, to make me release my inner powers, alive.
I make sure I teach them a lesson they will never forget in their next life. Be it as a human, demon, or creature of the night.
She touched the human's head. " You shared your power with him?" She raised a surprised brow.
I shrug at her question, "I was also surprised about that. When I made use of it, the strange fire repulsed his body."
" Hmm," she placed her hand under her jaw. " This isn't something to be overlooked. A demon doesn't share their powers, expect—"
" There's no way. You know I'm the devil and not a mere Demon. Have you forgotten about the curse placed on me by the head of the air creatures?"
I cut her speculations short, as I can't allow myself to hope, only for it to be dashed.
"It hasn't happened before, doesn't mean it cannot ever happen."
"But—"
"I'll check on him. Should he need your inner fire, I'll let you know." She gestured to the door.
"What's it?" I look at her, confused by the way she's acting.
"You need to take your leave now, bother devil. I have to get right into work."
" And you can't do that with me here?"
" No, I can't. I hate it when another person watches as I work."
" But I'm not a person. I'm —"
" I know. You're the devil. I agree. But that doesn't make any difference. It's still the same for everyone.
To me, what applies to humans is also applicable to demons, and the Devil."
" Is there—"
"As much as I love hearing your voice, I can't keep talking to you. I need to get to work before w certain broody devil, who hardly talks except when he got a human, decides to skin me. And make my hide into a coat."
I don't know why, but the thoughts of leaving the human here don't sit well with me. I had this urge in me to protect him, and make sure no harm comes to him once more.
" Okay, I'll take my leave." I gave her a look of warning, "should anything happen to the female, just tell your soul, bye-bye. I'll make sure I burn it, so you don't reincarnate."
She shivered at my words, knowing that what is spoken is the truth.
She knew what I'm capable of doing whenever I'm angry.
"Don't worry, your human is in safe hands."
"He better be."
I teleported to my room after I placed a protective shield in her room.
Should anyone enter there without my permission, I'll get alerted to it right away. This is what I did, to prevent anyone from entering in there without my permission.
I don't want anyone to hurt the human. He has been hurt already. He doesn't deserve it to go through this once again.
I decided to take a little nap. This way, I'll be refreshed to go to the jud — this is what the throne room is known as. The full name is Judgement court, but it was shortened to Jud—
I've been away for a long, I guess it's time for me to make an appearance to them. I need to make them aware of the fact their king is alive and doing well.
I changed into my normal sleeping robe.
"Home sweet home." I sighed I bliss as I flopped down on the bed.
But the fact is this, the Palace might have been my home for a very long time, but it hasn't felt like home. Not for once.
