Chapter 10 - Allow me to defeat you, and I'll marry you

"As much as I would have loved for you not to incur any wound, I wouldn't want to make my wife happy by not fulfilling her wishes."

"Go to hell!" I stagger a bit.

"I'll be happy to take you there." He smirked devilishly, "Let's get this over, you need to take your rest. " The same smirking expression he's had on his face ever since he came here is still prominent on his face.

His expression hasn't changed at all. Not in the least.

" As if. " Wiping the blood from my mouth, I charge towards him.

Presently, I'm as tired as hell, but there's no way I am going to give up all for getting married to the devil. It's either I win this fight or I die trying.

There are no two ways about it. One thing must give, and right now, it's either my life to victory.

Without waiting for me to fully stand, the Devil charged toward me, knocking my side.

I land with a thud, a bone-breaking sound, can he hear the moment my body made the collision?

"Ouch!" I groan in pain. Clutching to my side, I frown deeply.

The Devil isn't playing fair.

Should he continue with this, he'll win the fight on the third try. Should I get thrown on the floor for the third time now, my entire bones will just break, and that will surely lead to my death.

I know what I can do to make him stop. All I have to say is the words, and he'll allow me to win, but I know the price of that.

He'll allow me to win if I'll agree to follow him back as his bride, and that's not what I want.

I want to win this war and get to be free, but I also want the people to know am a strong prince who's capable of defeating the devil that seems to be undefeated.

The fame alone will be enough to wipe out the gossip of the prince getting married to the devil.

"Are you tired already?" The Devil taunts.

Can't you see that already?

I try to stand, but it seems as if my bones have all been broken.

"I won, didn't I? You need to keep to your end of the bargain."

And end up being the disgraced unfortunate prince who fought with the devil, but lost.

"I'll fulfil my end of the bargain if you do this for me." I look down in shame as I thought about the boastful words I've said, and those I've thought about.

I can recall the words I spoke about submitting to the devil, and right now, I am willing to do so if the Devil helps me attain victory.

In some ways, I'm not better than my father.

"What's it that you want? Tell me, and it'll be yours."

I scoff.

The Devil wouldn't have said those words if he was aware of what I wanted to ask for.

"Can I defeat you? I promise to willingly follow you back to hell, or wherever it is you came from if only you'll allow me to defeat you."

" Thinking of your reputation, huh?" He asked in a smug tone, a smirk on his face.

" Go to hell!"

" And that's where I am taking you to." He snaps his right finger.

The moment he did so, I felt like a new person. My body felt refreshed, my bones got righted. It seems as if I've not been fighting for hours or so now.

I felt like a new person.

" Flick your fingers." He ordered.

" Why should I?" Despite my answer, I flick my fingers, and fear came from it. " Wow." I widen my eyes in surprise.

"Now you can be able to defeat me." The devil smirked.

"Aren't you afraid I might kill you?" I raise a brow at the Devil, who seems to trust easily.

"There's no way for you to achieve that love. My powers can never kill me. Moreover, you don't have what it'll take to kill me."

" Aren't you smug?" I scoff.

" Get this done. I'm tired of the waiting, we've spent like forever in this duel that shouldn't have taken more than mere minutes."

" Let's get this done and over with, should we?" Raising my hand, I conjure flames.

A gasp erupts from the crowd as I did so.

" Your fans are cheering for you." The devil smirked.

" Shut up!" Unexpectedly, I throw the fire his way, but he didn't dodge it.

He allowed the fire to make a contact with his body.

Flying to the side, he looks to be dead.

Walking closer, I take him up through the collar of his shirt and punch him to the other end of the ring.

The moment he fell on the floor, the fire he erected around us got extinguished.

Loud cheers came from the crowd when they saw what happened.

Looking at the Devil that's probably playing dead, I allow the fire to get extinguished on its own. There's no need to still have the fire.

I'll confess, being able to defeat brought in me a sense of calm. It made me feel as if I'm finally controlling my destiny.

Truth be told, the Devil is the only one who's been able to let their lives in the line for my sake.

I wasn't in any least expecting him to do what he did, but he did that.

"You're now free, son. You've defeated the Devil, it's time to cut the seal between the two of you." Father says, a proud smile on his face.

I don't doubt that he's probably imagining how he'll show me off to his people as his favourite son.

Just the mere thoughts of that made me grit my teeth in anger as I ball my hands.

"Am not breaking the seal, "leaving a bewildered king behind, I walk over to the Devil that's still lying on the floor, not knowing the game is over.

"You can wake up, it's time for our wedding."
