"You may rise."
"Thank you, my Lord," they bowed once more.
And I had to hide my scoff as I thought of how cliché their greetings sound. It's downright funny hearing them talk.
They opened the door. The devil led me into the dark place, and the door was shut behind us.
"Tell me you're not going to murder me." I tried to check if I can see anything aside from the darkness around, but there was nothing visible.
"Should that be my plan, I would have done that long ago. Wouldn't have waited for a long time to do so."
" Okay." I nod, clutching tightly to his clothes despite the words he said, I inwardly beg for him to take us out of this place.
" The arena is an underground area." He said as he led me down a staircase.
" An underground?" I gasp in shock.
Never have I seen one, but I've heard the guards talking of the king of the limp, who has an odd obsession with dark things.
According to the tales I've heard about him, he's the only king who has more than three underground buildings in his Kingdom.
"This was done to ensure the safety of those in the arena should the house decide to cave in during one of the numerous fights that take place in this old house."
As much as I see some truth in his words, I can't help but be afraid for my life. The devil might have saved my life once or twice, but that down's necessary to mean I trust him.
Of a truth, I trust no one. Not even myself.
" You sure you're not planning on getting me killed?"
Despite my question, I tightly clung to his arm to prevent my poor self from falling due to a misstep.
"Why should I?"
"Not only are you taking me to an underground building, but oddly enough, no sounds are coming from the so-called place."
" You talk a lot. If you would rather not continue to the underground arena, we can return to the palace." The devil snapped in anger.
" Cool, your babies." I gave him a dark look, although he can't see it," I was just kidding, alright?"
Who am I kidding?
I meant the questions I asked earlier. I only denied it for the fact my mind seems to want to see the so-called underground arena.
I want to go there, and see what the arena is all about. Who knows, I might find something to make use of against the Devil.
"Then shut up." He snapped.
And that got me to perfectly shut my mouth without much Ado.
As much as I love getting on the devil's nerves, I can't do that now, at least until he gets his temper cooled.
We both walked in silence after that. Already having decided not to talk for fear of what the devil might do should I anger him beyond reasoning, I kept my mouth shut by bitting on my lower lip.
This way, I won't talk to the devil, talk more of asking unnecessary nonsense questions.
When I thought we are on a journey of no end, we came to the end of the stairs.
"It's now time to welcome you to the arena…" The Devil opened the door to the underground arena, and the sounds that came from it were enough to deafen me.
After minutes of being without any sound aside from the one made by our slippers, the noise from the arena is enough to slap me back to reality.
"Gods!" I cover my ears with my hands and made to duck as if I want to dodge the noise.
"You asked for some noise." The devil smirked, "why, are you afraid of it now?"
"It's too much."
"Don't worry, you'll get used to it." He took my hand in his, and lead me inside the noisy arena.
The moment we walked in, the noise stopped. I swear I can hear a pin drop, should anyone care to drop a pin to the floor.
I look around in surprise as I tried to seek the cause of the unexpected silence. Unable to locate the source of what might have caused the noise, I decide to check the entire place out.
Demons of different colours and species can be seen. Some of them, especially the completely pink demons, look almost human, but for the pinkness of their skin.
Had their skin colour been like mine, I would have thought them human, and I'm not joking at all.
Where the pink ones look almost human, the others, but not the rest, look as hideous as the demons outside the door.
Some have large eyes that are seemingly almost bigger than their head, while the ones with fangs look as if their teeth are bigger than their mouth.
Overall, they look like something straight out of a horror book, and that right there is saying something.
The Arena is like a normal wrestling field with four demarcations. In the middle is where the fight takes place* I presume* while the spectators and supporters of those battling either stand around the barred centre or sit on chairs that are kept around the place.
On the right side is a large space housing only one chair.
Only when I turned back to the demons did I notice that they all have their heads bowed toward me?????
Oh.
Who am I kidding?
They are bowing to their king, of course.
"My Lord." One of the yellow demons bowed to the Devil when he came near to where we are standing. "To what do we owe this visit?"
"Do I need your permission before I visit the Arena?" The devil snapped at the poor male who just asked a harmless question.
"No my Lord." The male demon rushed to add, "We are just surprised to see you here."
"Then get over your surprise." Taking my hand in his, he led me towards the only chair at the right of the battle arena.
