Sly kept on glancing at me as we ate. And that made me self-conscious.
"Is there anything on my face?" I touched my face to make sure there is nothing on it.
"Nothing," Sly nodded at the food. "Aren't.they to your liking? You don't want it?"
"No." I force a smile, "they are good. It's just that I don't feel hungry at all." I touch my stomach, "I'm full."
I'm full of thoughts about the step monster's threats.
"What did you eat this afternoon?"
"Marli ordered pizza. And I ate the cookies."
"How was—" He coughed, "how were the cookies?"
"It was good. I never knew you can bake. The cookie was more crispy than the ones Marli normally bakes."
"Well, thank you. I'm glad you like it."
"Like it? I love it!"
Talking of the delicious cookies made me forget my worries about the step monster and her threats.
"I'm glad you do." He took a bite from the chicken before he raised his head, to look at me.
