We left the field and headed for the building. Just a narrow alley-like way, and we will arrive at the building.
It's not as if that's the only way to the building. It just happened to be the shortcut. And everyone loves the shortcut.

No one loves going through the tedious way when there is a shortcut.
And that includes me. I will never go through the shortcut if there is a short way out.
