"I hate kids"
Under her breath, Veda mumbled in exasperation. "Dear! Oh lord! I am so sorry!" Thankfully, the mother of the little boy dashed near to them with panic written on her face. She apologized instantly. Her hands grabbed the boy's arms to pull him back. It was when Veda sighed.
At least, this woman was not an arrogant parent who treated their children like some sort of golden feather. "It is fine, Miss. I don't mind at all. He is a kid after all" Faking a tiny smile, the young woman stated. Her hand gripped the jar tightly to make sure the boy could not snatch it.
Yet, he yelled once again. "I WANT THAT GRAPE FLAVORED MINT CANDIES ONLY! OTHERWISE, I AM SUING YOU FOR CURSING AT ME! PLEASE HAND IT TO ME RIGHT NOW!" With full of frustration in his gaze, the kid pointed at the young woman. Threatening her for real.
It left Veda in pure shock. Did this little boy actually intimidate her for taking away this grape flavored mint candies jar? Was he being serious? 'Oh, well. I can kick your ass to another planet right now, you little annoying jerk' On the inside, Veda continued to curse out of rage.
But her face held only a tiny beam.
Meanwhile, the mother of kid was in disbelief. She scowled. "How could you speak in such a way to elder?! There is only one jar left! I can get others! Never talk in aggressive manner ever again!" she scolded. Dragging the boy away from there. Yet, the boy struggled really hard.
"NO! PLEASE! I AM SORRY! I NEED THAT GRAPE FLAVORED ONE!" In tears, the little boy screamed. His sorrowful expression gripped on the young woman's heart tightly. "Um, please wait for a moment!" As the woman pulled her son away, Veda ceased her. Drawing attention back.
"Oh, lord. I am so sorry on his behalf, Miss. Please don't be mad" Believing Veda was about to yell the fuck out of irritation, the woman apologized with a pleading frown. Taking a soft spot in Veda's heart. "No, it is not like that, Miss. Your son can have this to be honest"
In a low tone, the young woman passed the jar into the hands of the boy. It was the moment, the woman fell into pool of surprise while the kid grinned in delight as the jar entered into his grasp. "Thank you, Miss. Your kindness is appreciated. I owe you one" The woman smiled.
Causing Veda to shake her head.
"Don't even mention it" She beamed. "Express gratitude to this beautiful young lady!" Forcing the boy to bow, the woman ordered. "You are so pretty, Miss! Thank you for letting me take this!" The boy grinned widely. Disclosing the bliss across his face obviously. "Welcome"
And Veda shrugged. Then they went to different way. The young woman got a random mint candies jar for the man. Heading out of store after paying the cost. But, Lucius Ford was nowhere to be found. Among this crowd, Veda failed to catch a glimpse of the man. "Fuck.."
In annoyance, the young woman let out a sigh. She realized how she did not have the man's phone number nor his location. She really was lost in a crowd of loud people. "I hope no one recorded that moment" Veda started to concern about incident in candy store with the little boy.
She did not want to be seemed on main news with title of 'Famous supermodel Veda Ambrose was found in the candy store, fighting over a jar of mint candies with little boy'. How embarrassing it would be if someone ever captured that moment. "Took you long enough"
Out of blue, a whisper broke in.
Startling Veda entirely. She flinched. Turning around, only to witness the man staring at her with his hands in pockets. A disappointed expression displayed across his face. "Then why didn't you go buy it yourself to shorten the time?" Instead of an apology, the young woman hissed.
"It is common for an assistant to carry things out" Lucius retorted. "Now, you are wasting the time, Mister Lucius Ford. Five minutes left is what you got at the moment" Carrying the bag, Veda reminded. Cutting the conversation off right away which made the man beam.
"Yep. We should get going" Raising his right brow, Lucius agreed to the young woman. "But before heading out.." Still, he voiced. Preventing Veda from walking away. Her brows wrinkled. Peering straight into the eyes of the man in puzzlement. Now, what's the matter again?
"Is it grape flavored one?" Lucius's brow rose to point down at the bag which the young woman was holding. It was the moment Veda gulped. Was it a must to buy the grape flavored one? Did she screw up? Was he going to give penalty to her like some crazy bastard?
Worries flashed in Veda's gaze.
She frowned to maintain the tough side. "No, sadly. They run out of it since almost everyone enjoys the grape flavor" Without hesitating, the young woman lied through her teeth with a calm expression on. It quieted down the man. He smiled. "Are you certain about it though?"
Doubt wandered around the aura of Lucius. "Yes. And could you please stop wasting the time? We only got like three minutes only. You Are The One Who Is Going To Be Late" One by one, Veda pressed the words in last sentence to point out he should be panicking over the short time.
"Alright. I guess luck is not on my side today" A soft chuckle escaped between Lucius's lips. He walked from the front. Causing the young woman to let out a quiet sigh of relief behind. But then she quickly followed after him to catch up. Nearly ten minutes passed by.
Only then, they reached to company of Albert, the disguise of Lucius today. "Are you going to stand here like a statue all day?" Looking at the young woman whom body did not move an inch away from the entrance of meeting room, the man queried in amusement.
She stayed outside.
Yet this man questioned as a joke.
"Yes?"
Furrowing her brows, Veda replied. Making Lucius laughed out loud. It was when the young woman scowled. Perplexity spun in her head quietly. There was nothing funny even. Why did he laugh out loud all of sudden upon her words? "You are my assistant, Miss Veda"
Finally, ceasing the laughter, Lucius stated. "I am aware" Veda retorted. "Then why are you still here? Come inside with me. You should be by my side and passing the files" With an amused beam, the man stated. "I met a woman and she told me to step out of meeting room"
The response from Veda pulled the smile off Lucius's face. His gaze glinted with hint of vexation. That was when Veda knew she was tricked by that woman. She really thought it was a friendly reminder or something. Turned out they were treating her as a funny clown.
"When did she say that to you?" A tightened frown displayed across the man's face instantly. His tone switched into a cold one. "When I entered the restroom for a second" Truthfully, Veda disclosed. "Den" And Lucius voiced. Calling the man who had been standing at the back.
He took a step forward.
"Make sure she learn some lesson" Lucius gave a command. Causing Veda's brows to lift. Was this man being dead ass serious? Or was it just an act to persuade her into thinking she should lean on him for a better protection? Trust issues flowed through her blood as usual.
"What are you trying to do?" Veda queried out of curiosity once Den left the place. "Lecture someone who failed to understand the lesson obviously" In an blink, a smile flashed upon the man's face. Lucius truly could change from this to that promptly. Frightening Veda a bit.
"Um... I did not even say who she is. Yet, you believed my words right away and sent Den to give out lecture on your behalf to unknown person?" The young woman frowned. She clearly was not taking this situation serious. "Cctv exists" Lucius winked with a smile.
Only to make Veda raised her upper lip in nausea. "Let's go! We are late!" Out of awareness, the man's hand rose. Dragging the young woman by wrist as they two barged into the room where all important people gathered for forum. They turned their heads and gazed at the door.
Just to witness Lucius Ford.
Or Albert, they would describe. The sight of him looking hype as always did not annoy them at all. Instead, their attention focused on the young woman whom the man held firmly. Who was she?! This was the first ever time seeing him taking woman by his side! It should be a man.
Den used to stand by his side since day one. Now, who was this young woman? Lists of questions spun in their heads as confusion stuck on their expression. "My apologies for delay! I was getting something on the way to here" With a grin, Lucius shrugged the matter off simply.
He stepped near to the swivel chair which was seated at the end of table also known as host seat. His hand had yet to let go of the young woman's wrist. Causing Veda to clench her jaw. She restrained the urge to throw fists at this man in front of the whole group of people.
However, Lucius released the grasp after settling down on the chair. "Anything you would like to query?" Staring at the surprised and puzzled expression of them, Lucius got straight to the point. Causing them to cough out loud and turn around. "Good afternoon" They greeted.
Yet, their gaze focused on Veda,
who stood by Lucius's side in fury.
What was this unpleasant situation?
