"Den?"
Veda's brows pulled together over the sight of the man waiting in front of the 'Rose' hotel. He was already standing outside the car with arms crossed. The dull expression upon his face never changed. "Wait, does Lucius Ford know your schedule?" At last, Aria realized something.
Earning a firm nod back from the young woman as response while they two headed out of the car get near to the man. "Please step inside, Miss. Boss ordered me to bring you in next ten minutes" As soon as Veda reached near to him, Den requested in tranquil tone.
"Hey! She haven't even changed the clothes!" Out of displeasement, Aria raised her voice. Attracting the man's gaze upon her. "We got nine minutes now" Den then responded. Completely saying he gave no fuck about the surrounding other than the command of Lucius Ford.
"It is no use talking with soulless person. Save your energy instead" In the annoyance, Veda mumbled to her best friend. "How about we just become partners in crimes instead, Veda?" Furrowing her brows, Aria suggested from the side. Quietly craving to commit murder.
"Maybe when we have a chance"
Veda retorted and patted her best friend's shoulder. "Let's get going. You are literally wasting a few minutes just by standing like statue" Before the man could remind she was the one pulling time longer, the young woman mocked. Getting into the car with her purse in grasp.
Aria, who was left behind could not even speak any further more. She had an option to observe her friend leaving only at the moment. For real, she should get used to see her best friend being an assistant of a crime lord. "Oh.. Ok" Over the sarcasm, Den was at loss for words.
Tickling Aria somehow. And so she peered at the Mercedes Benz car parting from the place. "It is already late enough for Veda to work" Under her breath, Aria grumbled. The frustration flickered in her gaze. If only she could help her best friend out of these hell alike situations.
"Did you get the file of his schedule for this evening?" From the back seat, the young woman queried to Den who was driving beneath dead silence. "He did not give any files" Along with a serene expression, the man gave a cold reply. "Are you sure though?" Veda questioned.
A frown displayed across her face.
The way doubt echoed in voice managed to make the man glanced up at rear-view mirror. He took a look at her quietly. But the silence was enough. He obviously told her to shut the fuck up. "Well, I am not suspecting you. I mean I am but you could have forgotten something"
Noticing the death glare of the man through rear-view mirror, Veda tried to explain the reason why. "He got no more appointments to attend this evening" At last, Den disclosed. His words perplexed the young woman entirely. "Why should I work for today then? He has finished!"
Veda pulled the card out. Using the fact trick on Den. "I have no right to decide what to do, Miss. Boss ordered me to bring you to him as quick as possible. That is my only duty to accomplish" Calmly, the man retorted. Revealing his loyalty. "Oh, what a man to have by your side"
Veda taunted in a low tone. The car fell into deep silence after. They did not say anything at all. Tranquility wandered around them, would even find it uncomfortable to stick with them. Without any complaints nor questions for the man, the young woman went after Den serenely.
They reached to the company.
"Miss Veda Ambrose has arrived, Boss" Knocking on the door for two times, Den notified. "You can return to your work" And the man inside commanded. "Understood" Like that, Den separated with the young woman in the end. Veda walked into the office where Lucius Ford was at.
Only to witness him sitting on lounge with round glasses on. Now, what was his identity again? "You really do stand out a lot, Miss Veda. Did you perhaps rush here from the fashion show?" Lucius flashed a sweet beam along with the query which he already knew the answer.
Saying how Veda would get noticed by everyone whether if she had some expensive clothes on or not. "You are aware of the response already, Sir. So tell me. Why did you call me when you have nothing to do anymore this evening?" Getting straight to the point, Veda asked.
Her words and cold behavior made the man grin somehow. He crossed his arms with the big smile tugged at lips. Leaning back on the lounge. "Do you recall when I asked if you are good at copying signature or not?" He queried. His deep voice sounded tranquil at the moment.
Soothing Veda strangely.
"Yes?" She furrowed her brows in confusion. "Come here. I will show you how to copy my signature" And the man instructed. It was when the young woman knew she was called to get taught on how to sign the papers on behalf of him. A loud sigh escaped between Veda's lips.
She did not hesitate even to express how she was exhausted already. "Is it a must?" Along with a slight frown displayed across her face, Veda threw the question. "Yes. Come sit beside me before time run out" Lucius's deep yet calm voice began to sound impatient enough.
Causing the young woman to step near to him at last. She settled down beside him. But she kept the exact distance between them. "Watch carefully, Miss Veda. None of my assistants could copy it still. I hope you are not one of them" The man alerted with a tiny smirk.
Challenging the young woman to make her competitive. "Please start already. Time is running out as you said" Without letting the opportunity escaped, Veda used the same card Lucius spent upon her. It caused him to let out a chuckle. "What an impatient lady.." he murmured.
And so Lucius drew signature.
As the moment of him finishing the sign, the young woman completely quieted down. Fuck. He was not lying when he said his assistants had yet to copy his signature. It was difficult as fuck! How could people have such a messy yet pretty sign? "Should I do it again for you?"
The man raised his right brow. Yet, Veda shook her head. She gulped. Pretending to be confident in this kind of situation as always. "I have memorized it. Could you pass me the pen please?" She requested. The way she did not show her upset mindset amused the man wholly.
Her reaction, it was always different from others. She was unexpected kind which he relished every response from her no matter what. "Here" Lucius handed pen into palm of the young woman with a beam. Then Veda grabbed paper. However, she hesitated for seconds.
She was attempting her best not to mess up. "Are you certain with your confidence, Miss Veda?" Noticing the silence, Lucius questioned. Only to make Veda frowned slightly. Her hand commenced to move. Leaving the signature on paper in a second. And she looked up with a smirk.
"Yes, I am pretty confident"
Veda affirmed. The proud smirk upon her face dragged the man into pool of thoughts. His gaze slowly shifted down on the paper. It looked the same. Not exactly. But she got to memorize in a short amount of time. How impressive, truly. "There is something missing actually"
The man refused to accept. "I don't see any though. They are the same" Yet, the young woman scoffed. "Let me show you then" Lucius's lips curved up. That smirk. It sent shiver down to Veda's spine. Her brows wrinkled. "Go ahead, Sir" She allowed without knowing the future.
"Thanks for permission" The reply from the man left Veda in perplexity. What permit was he talking about? Before, she could discover the conclusion even, Lucius's arm rose, only to wrap around her shoulder. Then he slowly slid his hand down to grasp her hand which held pen.
He for real pulled her near to him in a blink. Completely stunning the young woman. Now, Veda was at loss for words. Shock drowned her enough to cease the brain from processing the situation quickly. "You forgot this" A gentle whisper of Lucius's deep voice permeated.
It was like a spell from wizard.
The words spun in Veda's head for nearly a minute. The man continued to draw the signature while holding her as she was in the middle of disbelief. "This is the perfect one" Once again, Lucius murmured. He pulled himself back after showing how to draw the signature correctly.
However, Veda failed to catch up with the steps. Her mind was not proceeding. "Did my charm attract you that much, Miss Veda?" In the end, Lucius let out a chuckle in amusement. It was the moment, the time Veda regained consciousness. Her eyes widened. Blinking after.
"Please quit spouting nonsense, Sir. You did not need to approach me that much clearly. I can learn from the side" Without noticing herself, Veda's voice shook over surprise. "Is that so? My bad" Lucius smirked. "You purposely did that" Realization hit the young woman promptly.
Causing Veda to grit her teeth. Why was this stupid heart pounding as if it was going to escape out from her chest in any moment?! This was not it. This was not acceptable. She had to do something. Right now. "Please excuse me, Sir" In hurry, Veda stood up from the lounge. "To where?"
Lucius raised his right brow,
the smirk tugged at his lips still.
"Restroom" And Veda responded.
Wearing a cold expression.
