Chapter 34 - She is also my favorite one

"See you!"

With a smile, Lucius waved at the people effortlessly. Observing them leaving from the meeting room. "Sit, Miss Veda Ambrose. I have got something to offer" As the door shut, the man ordered to the young woman who clearly hated to be commanded around what to do.

Still, she settled down at the seat near the chair of the man. It was such a long forum so that her legs became numb almost from standing at the same exact posture without doing nothing. "Den, come in" Lucius allowed. Letting the man strolled into the room with case.

It was the briefcase. Lightening the brain of the young woman. This man must be giving a million dollars which he lost at casino. "Take it" With a smile plastered on his face, Lucius ordered. Causing Veda to restrain the urge to throw fists. Why did she hate this beam so much?

Even the young woman was not aware of the reason why she loathed this beam. Maybe, it looked annoying. Maybe, she just hated this man. Without uttering any word, Veda seized the briefcase from Den. Opening it though Lucius had yet to instruct her. She did as she wanted.

And the sight delighted her.

Causing sparkle to dance in Veda's grey colored hazel eyes. It truly was as she expected, the million dollars inside. "It is the amount I lost to you at casino" Lucius stated. Drawing the young woman's attention to him. "I thought you were a type of person to carry around the check paper"

Maintaining the eye contact, Veda disclosed her thought. "I am indeed. However, I am certain you prefer the cash more than a piece of paper" A smile tugged at the man's lips. He beamed as if he knew Veda so well. "Everybody loves money" She rolled her eyes and shut the briefcase.

Causing the man to let out chuckle. "So, tell me. What is next location to attend?" Lucius got up from the seat while his eyes glued to the young woman only. His words made Veda jump up from the chair. A frown on her face revealed how she was considering about the schedule.

"Um, it is a lunch date with business partner at 'Nico' restaurant" Quickly enough, Veda managed to pull the memories out. Since she decided not to carry the file around in her hand, the young woman could only memorize the whole paper in a short time at the cafe this morning.

"Let's get going"

Lucius voiced. Earning a firm nod back from Veda in understanding. "You can give it to Den by the way. He is not someone to run away with that much" Before stepping out, the man suggested. Causing the young woman to look up at Den who was standing beside her in silence.

His soulless gaze sent shiver down to her spine. Could this man make it look any more dull?! Why did he seem as some sort of robot without emotions? "I am counting on you, Sir Den" Calm expression displayed across Veda's face. She handed the briefcase to the man carefully.

And Den seized it. He did not reply anything though. Just carrying it for her as his Boss suggested. "He for real has no soul" In annoyance, Veda mumbled to herself. Then they three walked out of the meeting room. Heading to next location as the man's schedule.

"Who am I encountering today?" In curiosity, Lucius queried once the car drove off. "It is Mister Waylon, Sir. He is the one who requested for lunch appointment with you to discuss about the works" Veda responded. Her brain really was processing well to recall stuffs.

"Sir? Where did Mister Lucius go?"

Noticing the way the young woman addressed him, Lucius questioned. He obviously ignored the other word and information. Focusing on how she called him only. The way Lucius Ford asked, perplexed Veda lowkey. Why did he look amused and annoyed at the same exact time?

"I am attempting to get used to it. I would not favor it to see people judging me for treating you as close friend of mine" Truthfully, Veda divulged. Revealing how she did not want to be seemed close to the man no matter what. "Is that so?" Lucius tilted his head slightly.

His honey brown eyes peered through the grey colored hazel eyes. This time there was no beam upon his face. It was serious expression. Arousing the young woman's curiosity. "Should I introduce you as my girlfriend then?" Unexpected query came up from the man.

Stunning Veda entirely. She froze at the place as her eyes widened. The fuck?! Did this man actually say it?! "No. Please don't introduce me like you care. I would prefer to remain silent and carry out your works in tranquility" Furrowing her brows, Veda retorted in displeasement.

Only to tickle the man.

"Pfft- I was messing around with you, Miss Veda Ambrose. Relax" Shaking his head slightly, Lucius released the miserable atmosphere out from the car. Letting the young woman sighed out loud in relief. Yep, this man must be joking to get her reaction. It could never be true.

"It is not funny, Sir" Raising her upper lip, Veda cut it off ruthlessly. Causing the man to laugh out loud even more. At last, the young woman did not say anything. She let him giggled. Instead, her focus landed on the street. Looking out of the window till they arrived.

"Oh wait.." As Veda was about to reach to door handle, she ceased herself. Gazing up at Den who came to open it. Right, she did not want to get startled. She had to wait for this man to do as a bodyguard of Lucius Ford. "Thanks" Getting out of car, Veda expressed gratitude to Den.

Yet, as usual he did not respond anything back to her and closed the door. Only to dash to another side where his Boss was at. Leaving the young woman in disbelief. "What a loyal man" she murmured. Rolling her eyes in vexation quietly. "Did he annoy you again, Miss Veda?"

Lucius queried.

Standing beside the young woman with a smile tugged at his lips. "You already know the answer, Sir. Why are you still asking?" Veda retorted. Her hand gestured Lucius to walk in promptly after. Causing the man to chuckle in amusement. "Why is he always smiling and chuckling?"

As they stepped in, Veda quietly mumbled in curiosity. "Ah, found him" While, Lucius discovered the man who arranged appointment. Lucius and Veda strolled near to the table which was located at corner. Den remained in the car as always. "Good afternoon, Mister Waylon"

Patting the shoulder of the man who was sitting on seat, Lucius greeted. Causing the man to look up instantly in awareness. "Oh, Mister Albert" Waylon stood up and handed out for handshake. "Did I make you wait too long?" Lucius asked and went in for handshake.

"Of course not, Mister Albert. I just arrived here a few minutes ago too" Waylon responded as they two settled down at the table. As for Veda, she stood beside Lucius with a serene expression on her face. "Um, is she your new assistant?" Waylon managed to question.

"Oh yes. She is my assistant"

Wearing a smile, Lucius replied. "Why don't you kick her out then? It must be uncomfortable to chat with stranger around" Unanticipated words from the man angered Veda. Did this man just humble her?! For real?! Was he being dead serious?! "She is not stranger, Mister Waylon"

However, Lucius's hand seized the young woman's wrist out of blue as if he prevented Veda from throwing fists in the face of the man. "She may be my new assistant, Mister Waylon. But she is also my favorite one" Lucius claimed along with a grin displayed across his face.

Surprising Veda entirely. Yet, the way he dragged her down to sit beside him shocked her more. Even Waylon was stunned to speak. This clearly meant Lucius disliked how other treated the young woman as a filth to kick out from near. "I am so sorry, Mister Albert. I had no clue"

As he realized, Waylon apologized right away with an awkward smile. Hoping the man did not hold a grudge against him over this issue. "It is understandable" Lucius shrugged the matter off. Saying he accepted an apology which relieved Waylon while it annoyed Veda.

She would never forgive this man.

"So, what would you like to order?" Waylon queried as the waiter stood by the table. "Is there anything you would like to have, Miss Veda?" Instead of responding to Waylon, Lucius turned his attention fully on the young woman. Irritating the man entirely as Veda's brows rose.

What was this attention? Did this Lucius Ford find it fun to mess around with fake identity and act like I don't give a fuck person with an important business partner? If so, Veda would be glad honestly in view of the fact that it bothered Waylon. She obviously held grudge.

"I would prefer a fruit salad" The young woman replied to Lucius. Although, she required to have something else, she had to maintain this body for her job. "Fruit salad then" Lucius ordered to the waiter. Earning nod back in understanding. "What about you, Sir?"

The waiter asked Lucius Ford. "Carbonara please" The man requested. "Understood. How about you, Sir?" The waiter questioned Waylon at last. "Pumpkin soup" he voiced. Earning a nod back. "Any drinks?" The waiter asked. And so the orders continued and he left.

"Shall we start talking about work?"

Lucius tilted his head.
