Chapter 14 - I will return your kindness

"Aria, dinner is ready!"

Marianne informed to her daughter who was busy with her phone at the corner. "This is the third time I have notified, Aria Scarlet! Don't make me repeat again! Go sit at table already before I kick your ass!" When the woman could not handle the silence anymore, she threatened.

Attracting her daughter's attention fully at last. "Mom! I am literally upset right now!" Aria responded. Not even glancing away from her phone screen which angered the woman more. "For what?! Why are you even irritated when I should be in fact?!" Marianne raised her tone.

Losing her patience slowly. A pair of mother and daughter had reached to the hometown already. They two were in the kitchen of Aria's grandparents at the moment. The reason why no one stopped nor heard the woman shouting and scolding her daughter in fury.

"It is about Veda!" Aria answered through exasperation. The name she brought in somehow quieted down Marianne for a few seconds. Her brows wrinkled. "What's wrong? Did something happen to Veda? Did you two argue? Did you two fight? Did she win the argument then?"

Unceasingly, Marianne questioned. Upsetting her daughter wholly. "Mom! You know well that we two would never get into fight nor quarrel! It's just she doesn't pick up my phone calls and has not even responded to my messages!" Aria disclosed in the end.

Finally, the woman fell into silence.

"Oh lord. Did those men kidnap her while we left her?" Marianne queried. Concern commenced to run inside her. She knew what happened since Veda and Aria disclosed to the woman with full of trust. "Ain't no fucking way!" Furiously, Aria refused out of panic.

Denying to believe one of the accurate possibilities. "Behave. Do not swear" Along with a glare, Marianne warned. Causing her daughter to smile sheepishly for a second. "But, what if she got kidnapped for real though?" Aria stated with a tightened frown.

"Veda is a woman of her words. We both are aware of the fact that she is not the type to break her promise. She definitely would call me and reply to my texts as our commitment" Aria worriedly assured. Beginning to feel guilty for leaving her friend alone.

The expression across Aria's face started to reveal the regret and sorrow obviously. Making Marianne felt bad somehow also. "Come on" she stepped near to her daughter. "We can't help it either. We both know Veda is a strong woman who would stand up for herself"

The woman persuaded. Attempting her best to soothe her daughter's concern with the facts. "Yeah. Maybe we are overthinking. She must have fallen asleep because of exhaustion. She will contact me tomorrow for sure" She lifted the hope up with a forced grin.

Aria tried to encourage herself.

Her friend would never let someone murder her easily. Yeah, Veda Amos was not that simple to get rid of. She was strong and smart enough to get through every tough and terrible situation. Like that Aria and Marianne soothed their concern. But were still worried silently.

"Fuck fuck fuck"

In frustration, the young woman struggled hard to get rid of rope around her wrist. The man had left from the basement but the problem was the situation she was in. Who the fuck even got an idea to tie her up like a punching bag?! "Shit.. shit.. shit.. Man, fuck this shit"

Veda mumbled in agony when the rope commenced to burn her skin since she was moving around a lot. She felt like giving up right now. This was hard to get through. Especially when her soul was not encouraging her even. And so the woman sighed out loud.

However, as she quieted down hopelessly at last, the rope burst out of the blue, only to make Veda fell onto the ground really hard. Startling the young woman since it was unexpected. "Fuck.." A curse escaped under her breath when she almost broke her arm.

Thankfully, her whole body was fine. "Who the fuck even helped me though?" In confusion, Veda noticed how the things were getting odd. She glanced around the basement in tranquility. Something was wrong. Why did she feel as if someone was observing her?

"Fuck, don't tell me it is a ghost who that fucker has killed before" Possible yet foolish thought popped up on the young woman's mind. Causing her to scowl in disgust and displeasement. "Fuck it, man" Without considering anymore, Veda rushed out of the basement.

Looking around the area in awareness at the same time as well. She could not get caught. This was the golden opportunity which she should not let go easily. "Exit.." Veda got lost right after she dashed out of basement. This was tricky. Two ways in front of her awaiting.

Filling her head with thoughts.

"Which one should I choose?" Out of fury and perplexity, the young woman questioned herself quietly. Furrowing her brows as she picked the left way. There was no time for her to get a pen and paper just to make a conclusion on which was the right way to escape from here.

She got no time for those. The young woman's hands started tracing for something in the dark since she felt like she was at the end finally. She could not see anything at all. "Fuck.. Damn it! You fucking unlucky bitch!" Still, Veda managed to choose wrong path.

At the end of way, solid wall was the only thing which was waiting for her. Completely bugging the young woman so that she gritted her teeth. "You have got to be kidding me!" Irritated shout echoed the pathway. Veda commenced to kick the wall out of fury in the darkness.

"Ugh! Fuck you, asshole" She kept striking the wall with her foot unceasingly just because she was irritated over the situation. However, who would have expected the exasperation she took on wall could lead her out of this hell alike place? Yes, she made a right decision.

As Veda's strength began to kick in, the tiny door which could get a size of dog out, swung open harshly. Making the young woman flinched in surprise and backed up instantly. "What the fuck? Secret place?" She frowned. Too shocked to process the current situation she was in.

And the light entered the path.

Revealing the outside world which was waiting for Veda to join. This door was connected to outside as if it was a secret place to get out if something ever occurred inside. It delighted Veda wholly so that joy sparkled in her grey colored hazel eyes. "Finally.." she murmured.

Grinning widely. After finished adoring herself for picking the right decision, the young woman got out of the door in view of the fact that she knew how to fold and how to be on her hands and knees like a dog. Promptly, Veda escaped from the basement. Witnessing the garden.

It appeared the spot she was at was the garden of this whole place. "Flowers are beautiful thou-" As Veda smiled at the sight of garden across her, gun shots echoed. Bringing consciousness into her mind back. "Fuck, I have to run away" In realization, Veda cursed.

Glancing around the surrounding for her safety. Seemed like luck was on her side due to the fact that almost every man was nowhere to be found even at the gate. They all must be defending from the sudden attack from whoever it was at somewhere else far from here.

"Thanks a bunch, my savior! I will return your kindness if we ever met" Veda quietly vowed with sparkles rejoicing in her eyes. Without any more thoughts, the young woman directly headed to the gate door. Kicking the iron bars to open fearlessly. And she succeeded.

Escaping from hell finally.

Veda got back straight to house of her mother's place. Packing everything including some clothes and stuffs of Aria and Marianne since she knew the men of that so called crime lord was going to destroy this house in an hour. She had to get important things out first.

All by herself, the young woman dragged everything she needed out from the house. Getting into a random taxi quickly after she put herself under disguise. A blonde wig, cute mask and sunglasses would help her for sure instead of wearing just a mask obviously.

Out of every famous hotel, Veda chose the one which was not that recommended by people. More likely to describe the hotel was not famous enough to get rated even. Again, all by herself, the young woman dragged everything into hotel. Asking for two persons room.

Only to appear she was not alone. Veda made it seem as if she got another person with her just to warn people they could not attack her easily. It was not like she trusted this hotel totally. She still had to put her safety first. The reason why she asked for two persons room.

"Have a wonderful day, Miss" After placing the suitcases and other bags, the man wished with a grin. Leaving the room as a sigh escaped between Veda's lips. "That was tough, man" With eyes closed, laying on bed, she mumbled while snatching the wig and mask.

She already took off sunglasses since she stepped into the hotel room to make it not seem suspicious. "Fuck, what should I do now?" Hopelessly, Veda queried herself. Losing all the will to work and continue her life in this kind of situation. "I have to call Aria"

In realization, Veda murmured.
