“Don’t leave me, Trish. My brother isn’t here, Sister Ody isn’t here, and grandma isn’t here either. I’m alone.” Anwen said quietly. She buried her face in Trish’s broad chest and sobbed softly there.
Trish hugged the girl more tightly while rubbing her hair gently. He silently shed tears.
“I won’t go, I won’t go,” he said, kissing Anwen’s head and resting his chin on it.
The sky's stars twinkled beautifully, and the snow was slowly falling.
Inside the silent room, Trish and Anwen were still hugging each other. They closed their eyes, enjoying the comfort and warmth around them.
Trish’s hands occasionally ran through Anwen’s hair gently. At that moment, he felt like he wanted the time to stop.
After a long while and Anwen had calmed down, Trish reluctantly let go of his embrace because he had to get out of there before anyone came.
“I have to go,” he said.
“You said you weren’t going.”
Trish smiled faintly.
