Rion stared at Theo intently. He said, “I love my wife very much, and I will not tolerate anyone trying to harm her. You and your friends had put her in great danger, but you changed your mind in the middle of the plan and decided to help her instead. I really appreciate it. That’s why I give you the opportunity to decide your own life and death here."
He added, “If you choose your life, you will not get this money because I consider this money as a ransom that you paid to redeem your life, but if you still want this money, it means you choose death.”
Theo pressed his lips together. He didn’t know what to say. He had been very enthusiastic about coming to the palace to get one million gold coins, but once he got here, the coins would just disappear before his eyes.
Life or money, of course, he would choose life. If he died, how could he enjoy all that money?
“I choose my life,” he said after a long silence.
“That’s a good choice.”
